I was just extended a job offer and I start this Monday. I will be teaching grades 7-12 FACS. I'm in the ARL program and I haven't gone through a teacher prep or student teaching program. I have subbed and worked in schools before.

I believe I will have 5-6 preps :0 I do have the previous teachers lesson plans, thank goodness!

I've looked up activities for the first day. Thinking about a true/false activity about me and then having the kids introduce themself some way. Obviously go over rules, school policy. Maybe the syllabus (which I don't have yet).

Where should I start? I've got this weekend to prepare. I'm nervous but excited. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you have a great attitude! Take it one day at a time. With all those preps, I'd advise that you use the lesson plans you have as much as possible and focus on classroom management and all of the set ups you are probably responsible for. Have a great first week!

Are you set for tomorrow? I can't help at all with content, but my advice is to enjoy! Spend some time getting to know your students and letting them get to know you and what they can expect. Take lots of pictures if you can; it will all be a blur!

How long is your school day? How do you have 5-6 preps?! Jealous! We had one, for 40 minutes, and were lucky if we even got to use it to meet and prep.

I think this means 5 or 6 classes to prep for.
