and it went very smoothly. I had everything that was needed and the lady in HR was nicely impressed. I am very happy and looking forward to being the best 3rd grade teacher ever, BUT I am also a little bit sad. What is that all about? I am also getting ready to travel( was born in Africa and going home) next week so perhaps that has something to do with why I am feeling a little sad inside.

Or it could be I am a little "nutty" :dizzy:

I'm not sure why you would be sad, but congratulations on the job.

Maybe sad because you are only going home to visit...not to stay?

Was 3rd grade your first choice? Do you have reservations about the school or district? Those could make you feel sad if you had different expectations since you may now feel "locked in." Also, it's a huge life change and that always brings about emotion. Third grade is wonderful! I think you'll enjoy it quite a bit.

Congrats and best of luck. :)

Maybe you're not so much sad as just nervous about starting the job? Or slightly overwhelmed? I know I was super overwhelmed when I first signed my contract.

    Thanks everyone for responding.

@iheart 3rd grade wasn't my first choice but I love the building and feel it would be a great fit. I was interviewed for 5th but due to a last minute internal transfer was moved to 3rd. I got call from another school(within the same district) to interview for 5th but choose to stay with the 3rd grade building because my gut tells be it will be a great "haven" for a new teacher. God willing I am right.

@Swan, I am apprehensive about going home because my dad is ill and I lost a sister unexpectedly last year.

@dgp. I am feeling overwhelmed but not slightly. I just need to take things one step at a time.

I am also feeling so very grateful about everything getting a job in this tough economy(some of my classmates have not even got an interview) going home to see the folks but if I am completely honest I am also super nervous about everything and I do not have much support. God is in control though.

Perhaps your new school could make arrangements for you to have a mentor assigned before school gets out so the two of you could plan together during the summer?

I hope everything turns out positive for your family.
