This morning I went to see my principal. The night before, she left a message with her home number, but I was working and couldn't return the call. I felt terrible because I didn't want her to think I was dodging her. She was so nice about the whole thing, she absolutely gave me her blessing to leave for the neighboring county. I was so relieved! She said everyone has the right to better themselves, and if that's what I needed, she would let me leave with a clear conscience. Just 10 minutes after leaving her office my phone rang, with an offer from the new school. I will be teaching 2nd grade I applied for 1st, but perhaps he sees me as a better fit, coming from 3rd, and I can respect that. Now I can make plans to move closer to my new job (it's 65 mi each way) and start getting excited about teaching again. Last year really drained me, and I was in desperate need of a change. The only piece of bad news is the timing...again. He said that HR is swamped and that if I don't hear back by the end of the month, I should contact him again. He gave me no suspicion whatsoever that the job isn't mine. Sounds like a formality, but I asked for time from my current principal. She is going to mull it over and talk with our HR about a possible timeline. So my principal was very understanding twice today. I'm just so thankful everything worked out!!
