Hello, I just found out that our school wide theme is going to be: "Let your light shine" (we are a Catholic school). The focus will be on this Bible verse: "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven My question is: how do I tie that in with my classroom theme of smiley faces. (5th grade) I can see the connection between good works, but having trouble getting the "light" part. Should I use stars AND smiles, or what. Before I got the official word of the theme I had this in mind- Super Minds Invite Learning Excellence . I don't want to have to return all of my smiley things, because I really like them. :help: Thanks everyone!
Could you use Shining Minds Invite Learning Excellence instead? If you have a BB, show rays of light in a semi-circle with the kids' smiley faces underneath. Then you could say something like, "Smile and show your light from within".....
upsadaisy, love Shining minds instead! Ellensmom, could you possibly tie in the smiley faces with good works? (as the scripture indicates). You could add onto their lists of good works throughout the year.
Also, for some smileys could you add to them to make them look like a light bulb? Or make a flame around one and put it on a candle? Put the smileys in an arrow pointing heavenward?
Our class does a "Be an Angel campaign" where we have angels around the room, On the "don't worry , Be happy" theme, try Do Work (as Jesus did), and Be Helpful. Not sure if this helps, or steers you in another direction. Good Luck, Mr. Skinner
Or rays coming out of them like suns. Each time they are caught by a classmate doing something kind or helping another student they earn a ray.
Runsw/scissors that is an awesome idea. I felt a spark inside my head, thanks for that! Awesome! Mr.Skinner
