I Need Serious Advice!

I left my soda on my desk. I locked my door and walked my class to prep. I came back and my door was WIDE open. I drank my soda without thinking anything of it. Well I was drugged. I have proof that I was drugged, but I have no idea how to approach my school about this.

Our school is falling apart as the days go by! It was probably a middle school kid. The custodian probably opened my door.

 

Does your school have cameras? You should at least report the incident so the admin is aware of these problems.

I can't think of anything you can do if there are no cameras. Maybe ask the custodian about the incident?

I agree with Sshintaku, that you should report the incident. I would do it right away. Some video systems only store information for short periods of time.

 

Absolutely report it immediately. I know my school has hallway cameras. If yours does they might be able to catch who did it. Hope you're okay!

 

My proof is a drug test that came up positive.

Can I use the test results as proof?

 

No because who can say when you took the drugs or if you intentionally took them. Now if you fell ill immediately upon drinking the soda and needed to go to the hospital before the schoolday was out, then you would have a case, but not one strong enough to hold up in court. So in the end, it really comes down to your administrations willingness to believe you without any evidence other than your word. Some will consider this nothing more than your invention at a story to explain a failed drug test that could hurt you.

 

No advice, but I'm so sorry that this happened to you.

 

I'm assuming the drug test was voluntary or perhaps even requested by Bumble (correct me if I'm wrong). In that case, there would be no reason for her to make up a story to cover the positive results.

Are the results conclusive you were drugged? Maybe not, but it is pretty strong evidence. I agree it probably wouldn't hold up in court, but it should be more than enough for your administration to investigate the situation thoroughly.

 

Wouldn't you have noticed immediately you were drugged? I would have reported it right there and then, not go and take a test and then have something to say about it.

 

Call your lawyer. Have him contact your doctor.

 

Not necessarily. After all if you did a drug voluntarily, and then had reason to suspect it could later show up in a drug test that would harm you then wouldn't you* be doing everything you could to make it look like you hadn't intentionally taken it (think drugs that stay in your system or hair for months later). And asking to be tested, and then claiming you were drugged, is one of the easiest ways to make yourself look "innocent." Its been done more than a few times by others.

*And of course by you, i don't mean you personally, but the type of person who does drugs "recreationally"

I do belong to a union. I feel so nervous about talking to an admin about this because I feel violated and dirty. I don't know why I feel uncomfortable providing the medical documentation to prove that I was in fact drugged. It is ridiculous I have to provide confidential medical records. I have absolutely nothing to hide, but I still feel uncomfortable.

 

That's horrible! I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I don't even know what to say. Someone asked, but I didn't see a response. Are there cameras at the school?

 

I agree with Alice. Call your lawyer and your union. Also, do you still have the soda can? That could be important.

 

I think you should call the police. After all, if you were in a bar and this happened, that's what you would do.

 

No it was thrown away...I am hoping the trashcans were not emptied, which is fairly common. No, there are no cameras where my classroom is.

Good thing I am friendly with the middle school teachers. They are keeping an ear out for me. The kids ALWAYS talk about what they did the next day and they think the teachers are not listening.

 

Did you feel any effect when you drank the soda? Did you report the concern at the time to your administration/school nurse?

I doubt you can use the test results- many things can make a 'positive result', including poppy seed bagels!

Did you take the test on your own or is this some work-related drug testing?

 

I am curious about this too?? I think it makes a difference.

 

If you can find the can, you don't need a lot of sample to run an analysis on its contents. Fingerprints could maybe even be taken.

We had a workshop on drugs. We were told that eating poppy seeds would not show up on a test.

 

I think that depends on the test. I was told by an officer that it was a problem, but that was fifteen years ago or so. Maybe the tests are better now.

 

First off, try to get to the school early tomorrow to see if the soda can is there, pick it up with a pencil or gloves.

Also, I am curious, if you don't mind, what were you drugged with?

where do you work??? I mean don't give a name...in my high school (many a year ago) a student put acid in the psych teacher's coffee...needless to say, the kid got caught (after she ingested it!) i dont know what happened to the kid, but kids talk, a lot. They think we are deaf and dumb, but don't realize we listen. Have your peers listen to conversations more closely and (my personal fav) pick up discarded notes that kids passed in class and read them. You'll find your answer. I think we can all learn from this incident and Prof. Moody (H.P) drink only what you have on you....Scary stuff...
Also, does your school randomly drug test the teachers???
My school we have no drug testing for the stuff...maybe it depends on the area you live??? Good Luck!

I didn't feel anything right away. It took about 45 minutes to show effects. The problem with the test is that the benzo-whatever was extremely low, but still there. I'm starting to think it may have been acid. I have no experience with this. I'm nervous about going in today. I'm going to be listening to students more today...this is why I am going in today. I took the test on my own.

I think you at least need to let the admin know your room was unlocked after you had locked it and that you suspect you were drugged. Even without the drug test-the fact that you drank the soda, then felt some effect should be enough for them to at least warn other faculty.

I would put my detective cap on and talk to the custodians to see if someone opened my room for a student or anything. That happens at our school sometimes-a kid says they left something in the room. It would also help you pin down a time-frame to see what kids are around then. I am super-paranoid when it comes to drinks-I will often leave for the day and forget a 1/2 full water bottle, the next day it goes right in the trash-unfortunately you never know what people may do.

 

If it was acid, you would def know..a benzodiazepine would have made you feel woozy and "out of it". Acid is untestable, and benzos leave your system pretty quickly. Kid could have easily swiped his/her parents 'scribe and put it in your drink. On the plus side, unless they took the time to crush it up and put it in, chances are it stuck to the bottom. Also, you would have needed 9-10 milligrams for you to have serious negative problems. So at least you can rest your mind at ease on that. Maybe having a cop come in and talk about drug dealing and selling will get the kids talking??? sorry again...what happened to the days when the teacher was respected and kids were not trying to kill them??

 

What gave you the idea you'd been drugged? Where did you get a drug test? Are they over the counter?

 

I got one of those over the counter kits. Then today I went to the hospital to get a blood test. Results of the blood test will be in by Monday.

 

What did the OTC kit test for?

 

I watched the video, and was rather surprised. Our workshop was put on by the agency that tests for drug use. Maybe her test excludes poppy seeds somehow.
