    Hi all,
As you all know, I am a 2nd grade teacher but I have a handful of kids who are reading on the 3rd or 4th grade level!!!! I absolutely have noooo books for them to read and it makes me feel so guilty. All the books that my school ordered are 2nd grade level or below!!! Anyway, can you all give me some popular titles that 3rd and 4th graders tend to love to read????? I want to start shopping for some books now on ebay or amazon to purchase soon. I've been promising them more books and I need to show and prove. Any titles that those kids will be sure to love would be great!!! But they have to be able to read them independently (not read alouds).:D :thanks:

I also teach 2nd and have a 'high' group - they loved the Littles series. The Boxcar children series is also wonderful. Depending on how much you want to push them, I've had groups in the past that adored Sarah, Plain and Tall - it's more challenging, closer to 4th grade, but it's a beautiful book.

How about the DK Reader series? They're nonfiction on a wide variety of topics, from the Bermuda Triangle to the Titanic. You can buy varying levels, and they run about $3.50 or so.

My kids love Junie B. Jones (they're usually around lower 3rd grade level). They also love any mystery stories.
