I hope I don't have to take this back at some point throughout the year, but as of right now I have such a wonderful 5th grade. The kids follow directions, they are respectful, they are sweet, and they WORK! Some asked for EXTRA HW. Ah, I love them.
Yay! I hope you continue to feel that way! I had an amazing group in my homeroom last year and my group this year seems like a lot of fun too.
I LOVED teaching fifth grade. They are at that awesome age where they are still innocent, but get your jokes and when you are sarcastic. You can also have serious conversations with them, and yet still get silly and goofy. I envy fifth grade teachers. Wish I can teach that grade again.

My 5th graders are the same way. I almost fell over in math class when one of them asked (with a very hopeful tone) if we'd be having math homework. And I could have hugged my very antsy boy who suggested all on his own that when he was done with his 4Sight test and we had 20 minutes to go that he should sit by himself so that he wouldn't be distracting to the students around him.
