One of the family gifts we got the kids for Christmas was tickets to an upcoming performance of Disney on Ice... no shock there. But the other night I woke up at 2 am, realizing that something was wrong-- the performance is the same date and time as my daughter's performance in All County Orchestra. I called Ticketmaster today to ask about exchanging the tickets for one of the other performances. The guy's first reaction was along the lines of "there's no ticket insurance, so we can't do anything" though he was much more polite than that. My reaction: So that's it? $200 down the drain? There's nothing you can do? He came back with "let me check"... and 10 minutes later I had exchanged my tickets. I'm in the same section, just 3 rows back from my original seats. And it was an even exchange, so it didn't cost me a cent. Had I simply accepted his first statement, I would have had to split us up into 2 nights, and probably taken a loss on 2 tickets by selling them on StubHub and buying 2 new tickets. A little polite persistence really paid off.
