I got the .8 American History job, I start Monday and talk salary etc tomorrow. I will leave my long term sub job Friday. I am really really really excited. You guys all helped me get this job, it was your ideas about how to put together resume packets, walking in resumes, Elizabeths resume format, the idea for e-portfolios...etc. You guys helped me do this, give yourselves a pat on the back. If your ideas can get me hired in MI then you can all get hired too, it will happen for you all!
I know it isn't full full time... but hey it is your first job choice!!! YEAH!! I am so happy for you!
I just wanted to remind all of you this is as much your success as mine, no MORE SO! If it were not for you guys I would not have done things the way I did, I would not have gotten the interveiw guide from AWaxler and I would not have been hired. You guys got me that job and for that I am eternally grateful!
congrats! was your lts position over, or did you have to leave it early? if so, how do you do this gracefully?
I left the lts early, I did this gracefully by going to tell the principal that I had found a full time job and had signed a contract. I told him I would stay till the end of the week to find someone else and that lesson plans etc were complete to the end of the trimester (just before thanksgiving) and that anyone can come into the position and just teach because it was all done for them, I even had the tests written for one class. I thanked him for the opportunity, and that was it. He is a pricipal that understands that sometimes you need to leave jobs for a better situation.
CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so happy you found a job, especially in such a tight job market! I'm hoping if I keep at it, just like you, things will happen for me. You are an inspiration to keep going in the job search! Congratulations and make sure you enjoy every moment...even the not-so-fun-stressed-out times. You will be a great teacher!!
My 9th grade assistant principal, and the teacher who uses my classroom for one class a day came in and watched me for a while today, I have what used to be a double classroom and I moved furniture to block off the back part of the room...so the computers are away from the students, the hole in the wall is covered and the students knew they were in a new environment with a new teacher (the other 9th grade history teachers came to check on me and decided I needed to rearrange the room, I was gonna wait until I had time, they dug in and made sure it was ready Harry Wong style) and my principal said I "rocked it today" Again told me he knew I would (on interviewing committe) and said I had his 100% support. So far so good, oh, I get paid over the summer and benefits too! THEY ACTUALLY PAY ME GOOD MONEY TO TEACH! HOW COOL IS IT TO GET PAID TO DO WHAT YOU LOVE???????? Keep looking people, several more jobs just opened up in my tight market area of Michigan, go out put together the resume packets like I suggested which is the reason I got the interivew and KEEP LOOKING.
wldywall, Sorry I read this strand alittle late, but let me throw my congrats too!! That is soooo terrific for you!! Congrats! I hope you enjoy your new position. Its soo good that you have the support of the administration, even the one you're leaving? That's something else. Best wishes. muchkin
