The wait is killing me! I don't know if they checked my references. They haven't called one of the schools (I was there), and I don't think they called the other for my P (unless it was later Friday). I keep stressing about that. Is that a good thing, or bad?
Good Luck! If you do get it and wages are the same you will still be coming out better since cost of living is so much cheaper.
He did not call me today!!! I've been looking at my phone every 10 minutes, I've been waiting for 4 days, and now I gotta wait some more
Good luck and hang in there. Are you going to call? When I moved I swore I wouldn't call. Day 5 I did ,and found out the Ps daughter had been sick. Oh, the wait is a killer. Hope you hear soon.
I'm sure something came up, or they haven't decided (but that's unlikely). I know the P wouldn't leave me and the others hanging, I know we all went for the interview from far places. And he knows it as well. I'm thinking about calling tomorrow after 4 pm if I don't hear anything. He game me his cell # because he's hardly ever in his office. He said 'we'll know the first of the week', I'm beginning to think that doesn't mean Monday? Maybe he meant beginning of the week. But it's been a long wait, I just need to know.
If he gave his cell, that's a good sign. Just stay calm and say you're following up up on your interview. Ask if there are any questions he might have and thank him for taking the time to speak with you. Again, stay calm.
That's true. I didn't think of that because the school is year round, students are there 250 days, but they still have some holidays. At my school we work both these Mondays, but maybe they don't. and that's what 'first of the week meant'. I don't have cell service at the school I am at today, so I switched my voice mail to 'youmail' voice service - I can check my messages online. I tell ya - I HATE not knowing. I'd rather have the bad news than no news.
Waiting sux. Unfortunately, what is life-and-death to you just just another check box on their "to-do" list and way less important than his daughter spilling her fingerpaint on the kitchen floor. Being anxious and nervous won't increase or decrease your chances. Have a few beers.
Nothing, absolutely nothing!!!! I give up. I am incredibly disappointed and sad, and actually kinda annoyed. I called his cell yesterday a little after 3 pm, and left a professional message about following up to see if they have made a decision. No call back. He didn't seem like he would handle it like this. If they made a decision, and it's not me, just tell me. It's possible, but I can't really imagine that something came up or that they're still thinking. And they never checked my references. ???? At this point I feel that I didn't get it, and even stopped thinking about it.
I know, honestly something like that (flu) coming up seems like a really good explanation, because like I said before, I got a really good vibe from this P. But it it's been so long! The interview was a week ago, they were supposed to make a decision 2 days ago. When I talked to him the second time to set up the interview time, I remember that I called him, and he didn't answer. I didn't leave a message, but he called back in less than a minute saying he missed a call. Now I even left a message and that was over 24 hours ago. It's just weird.
stuff happens. just because he said they will make a decisions 2 days ago doesnt meant that. maybe something came up and he cant tell you whats going on but that doesnt mean you are ruled out. however, do keep looking. i would call again at the end of the week to follow up and then id start forgetting about it
I haven't heard anything yet, but just received a phone call for an interview from somewhere else!! I applied for 4 jobs in the past 2 months, and got 2 interviews, so that's not bad. This is for a community court school. Still far, but not that far. (about 6 hours away) I can drive up very early, go to the interview and drive back. It's next Friday So I don't have to be sad anymore.
I don't think hold ups are so easily dismissed. Administrators in my district are required to do twelve observations per teacher per year, oversee the implementation of new CCSS, it's budget season, parent issues, and a whole host of other school related issues as well as maybe getting approval from personnel dpt or the school board to offer a job to a selected candidate.
Congrats on another interview! I still wouldn't give up hope though. I know my P has been just swamped!
Good luck on the new interview. I'm sorry you have been kept waiting so long with the first, but now you have something else to focus on.
Thank you guys! It really means so much that you all are thinking of me. What should I take to this interview? I'm thinking of everything they have already (resume, cover letter, reference letters, credential, etc), but I'm also thinking about getting more references they can call. I have plenty of teachers telling me that I can use them as references. I can double check with thm, and maybe even get their personal numbers, not just the schools, and then type up 5-6 references on one page. Our teachers are out all the time, because of the time off they have to take, and his way I won't have to worry that they can't be reached. I'm also thinking about taking a sample lesson plan, but more than one subject. This position is not ncessarily an English position. It may be a self contained class, although they didn't ask for multiple subject credential. This alt. ed. district has a juvenile hall, 1 probational camp and a few community / court schools. So it could be anything. I'm thinking about 1 - 2 English lessons (very different from each other), and maybe 1 Science and 1 personal development.
No, I haven't  So weird. The weirdest part is that last Tuesday (8 days ago) I left a message on his cell phone to please let me know if they have made a decision. The least he could have done is tell me they hired someone else. Very unprofessional. He only had to make 5 phone calls, including whoever got hired.
I would like to call him and give him a piece of my mind...really. It's so uncalled for. How unprofessional. I have my fingers crossed for you!!!!
I'm going for this second interview tomorrow. Any last minute advice? I've made a portfolio, it has cover letter, resume, 4 letter of recommendations, copy of teaching credential, and 2 English lesson plans (detailed). Am I missing anything?
