I just joined this forum the other day and posted something about what to wear to my interview. Well, I went to my interview today and got offered a job on the spot! I told them I would prefer 2nd or 3rd grade, but I would take any job they gave me. It's a military town so they don't usually hire early because they don't know what enrollment will be like. Well, I got a job teaching 3rd grade! They said even if enrollment is low and they don't end up needing a 3rd grade teacher at that school, I definitely have a job at one of the schools in the district!
Thanks! I was so scared that I was going to get hired the day before school started and have no clue what to do the first week of school. (This has actually happened to quite a few teachers in my district!) It's good too because I have a job at the school on the military base (my husband is in the military). We're on the wait list to move on base, so once that happens we'll save a ton of money on gas.
I wore a black skirt, that was below my knees. I had a stretchy black and white button up shirt that had a tie around the waist. (I love the shirt!) And then I wore my suit jacket. Luckily it wasn't very hot at 9 in the morning! I think I definitely impressed them with how professional I looked. I never thought I'd get offered a job on the spot!
YAY! I'll bet wearing something you really liked mad a big difference in your confidence too!! I always try to put on something I really love and then build an outfit from that. What a relief to be finished with the job hunt. Third grade is going to be so much fun!! I'm teaching fourth after teaching middle school for the past three years. I can't wait!!! I am tired of students coming in with hickies and boyfriend/girlfriend problems.
