Take a deep breath, hold it & let it slowly out. First of all Congrats! Enjoy your evening (or what's left of it.)

Do you have a new teacher orientation to attend? You should be reporting soon. If you can call your P & see if you can get a set of teacher manuals, look over the standards you will be expected to teach & get a phone number of another 3rd grade teacher in your building.

The only thing that you have to get done before school starts is the back to school packet & name tags. I always do my name tags on 3 x 5 cards until I know for sure that I have the correct spelling of the names.

    Enjoy your year!

    Congratulations!!!

Don't even think about the details tonight; revel in the fact that you got it.

Tomorrow is soon enough to think details.

When you meet with your principal, ask him/her if there's a name/phone number of a third grade teacher who he/she recommends would be helpful to you (and who wouldn't mind you calling during vacation).

Well first off, CONGRATS! Now, you SHOULD be scared and THAT is good. That scared, excited, nervous, not knowing feeling will give you the adrenaline that you will need to get everything that you need to get done completed. So, take a deep breath. Celebrate. Get the number of your grade level chairperson, and get that room decorated. Your team will help you with what you say at parent night. You just get started with the task of setting up your room and getting yourself ready for the task of welcoming children into YOUR class.

Congrats! Use your mentor teacher, that's what they are there for. Don't be afraid to use your team as well (they've taught the grade before).

Congratulations! The best advice I can give is to keep a running list of thing to do as they pop into your head. Trust me when I say that this will help alleviate some of the stress - having it written down means you will remember it! :)

I've been teaching for 7 years and I *still* get that freaked out feeling! The list making saves me every August as I start getting ready for back to school!
