I feel like you guys are always talking about the great stuff for teachers in Target. My Target NEVER has this stuff. I remember thinking last year I must have missed it or whatever. I looked today, and nothing for teachers. The only place I've seen it is in the huge, huge Target in Myrtle Beach last year, but I won't be going on vacation there this year. Is it maybe too early?
Does your local Target have the dollar section? Have you tried Walmart? I'm not a big fan of shopping there, but I did find some things to use last year.
I would call your local Target and find out when they get their main shipments. I'm only saying this because I bought a ton of teacher items from the Dollar Spot this past Wednesday. However, I went in last night to buy a few more things and it was almost bare.
Yeah they do the dollar section, but it's mostly food! No Walmart here. I'll go to Dollar Tree when it's closer to school starting.
Same here. My smaller town Target doesn't have the magazine boxes that are the perfect color. I'm going back to Houston this weekend and I am hoping they have them.
If you don't care about color you can get the ones from Ikea. They are 1.99 for 5 of them and now they offer them for sale on the website. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50022354/
Just an FYI, I just bought 30 of these, and even with the shipping it came to a total of $22. This is a GREAT deal if you don't mind plain ones. I figured students will most likely enjoy decorating their own anyway.
Here's a decorating idea: http://crisscrossapplesauce.typepad.com/.a/6a00e55111563088340134872fec3c970c-pi Minus the colors. I did this last year with my white Ikea book boxes and the kids' names. They LOVED it.
That IS cute! I'll probably have to move to book boxes for the kids this year - they'll have so much more in their desks than 1st graders that there probably won't be room for independent reading books!
This is simply adorable! I will definitely be doing this with my kiddos this year! Thanks for the awesome idea! :thanks:
Glad I could help! I can't take credit for the idea, but I like to pass ideas along! Sorry if I hijacked the OP's thread!
From what I've seen, it's still a little bit too early for the teacher stuff. My closest Target is terrible as well. I have to drive to a different city if I want anything other than, say, cleaning supplies. Even all the makeup is always sold out! Pretty much every other Target in the region has a big, amazing dollar spot except for ours! I used to live next to a great one and miss all the great $1 sticker booklets! I've used those boxes for my own use at home, and they're a great deal, but fairly flimsy. They're cheap enough to replace though, I guess. I love love love that decorating idea with the photos!
My target is great, they just don't seem to have teacher stuff. But come to think of it I'm not sure the school supplies were even out yet. I feel like they usually are by now, and I didn't go to that part of the store, but I didn't see signs or anything. Tomorrow I'll be down by my school and there's a Target literally across the street I'm going to check there.
My target won't have teacher stuff until late August. And even then there's never much. I never seem to get there in time and everything is always picked over.
I've been to several Targets throughout the state in the past couple weeks (Northern and Southern CA) and I've collected some good teaching supplies, so I guess I've had good luck! Some have been better than others. I haven't seen any of the hard plastic magazine file boxes this year though, or the flat hard plastic paper trays. Those were my favorite items last year. Has anyone else seen those?
I have never, ever seen any sort of teacher stuff at Target or Dollar Tree . Well, actually, Target does carry teacher calendars, but there's never anything awesome in the dollar section.
Sorry for adding to the hijack, but yay on IKEA selling those boxes online! Although, that takes away my excuse for making an annual trek to one... Just a tip for those using them--I put a strip of clear packing tape on the bottom (both inside and outside) for reinforcement. If you make a big deal out of how to properly carry them, etc., they usually will last the whole year.
I went to Target yesterday and in the $1 section up front found teacher planning books, grade books, flash cards, baskets and bins. I've also gotten certificates, mini white boards. Went to the 99 cents store and got those caddies that are great for supplies. Also try Michaels $1 department. More and more stores are adding teacher stuff. Barnes and Noble just expanded that section here.
