I am now a first grade teacher! I can't write any more than that because I am in deep, deep shock. And I can't stop crying. Sheilah
My interview yesterday went so well. I did a ton of research because the P told me on the phone when she called to set up the interview that they were piloting some new programs. So I started looking around for information on the programs and the more I read and heard about the school and the P, the more excited I got. And I just felt a sense of comfort with everything there. Even the building made sense to me. I loved the P during the interview. And I liked the other two teachers a lot. There were two positions: a part-time kindergarten and the first grade. The two teachers that were the grade band partners were part of the interview team. They were great and asked me some wonderful questions. I just felt really good about it. But I didn't want to dwell on it, because losing out on this school would have been harder than usual. I liked it that much. As we all know, interviews can just rock and you still don't get the offer. I purposefully blocked it and just focused on my next interview, which was scheduled for tomorrow morning. She told me that they knew I was the one before I ever left the parking lot. And she e-mailed me a pdf. file of the official offer letter after we talked on the phone, and it was dated yesterday. It was my back ground in children's mental health that sealed the deal. And how all of my letters of recommendation talked about my strong student advocacy skills. I have heard, "Thanks for meeting with us, but we decided to go with someone else" so many times that I thought for sure that she was telling me that this time, too. To everyone still struggling, please keep at it. No matter how many times you hear "NO". Sheilah

I am really starting to process this! I can relax a little this summer and not have a stressful job hunt hanging over my head. And, most important, I have the entire summer to prepare my classroom. I have questioned whether or not it really happened and have gone back several times to look at the offer letter. My husband finally just printed it out and pinned it to the cork board in the kitchen. He said my reassurance will come much quicker if I don't have to go through the various steps to pull it up on the computer every time I need to double check. Sheilah
And check out the title I just added to my details on this board, over with the other pieces of information like location and post count. How sweet is that?!!!!!!! Sheilah
Boy, I feel like I won the lottery! My phone hasn't stopped ringing. I just heard from my former mentor teacher (the kinder class I student taught in) and we are meeting up in a couple of weeks for lunch and then she wants to tour my new room so she can see what I need that she can give me. I have always wondered what it would be like, to finally get "here". I thought I might feel some nervousness. But I don't. I just want to get started! I don't even know who my students will be (with the exception of one little guy who has been diagnosed on the autism spectrum), or even how many I will have. But I already feel protective of them. Sheilah
Wow! How cute of your husband to do. Gee, you sound a little like me. Going back to the letter a million times to make sure it really happened sounds like something I would do!
