My students made a gain of 14 proficiency levels all together in Math! They worked so hard, and I am so proud! Not a single student went down a proficiency level. It makes me so happy to see that all the hard work paid off!:woot:

Super inspiring for a new year!

Why do you think they made this big jump? What do you think made the difference?

I focused very hard on the key standards and broke them down. I spent a week on each element of the standard. Such as, for adding fractions, I spent a week each on common denominators, uncommon denominators, mixed numbers, improper fractions, and simplifying answers.

I did a 5-10 minute mini lesson a day and had students answer similar questions on their whiteboard. At the end of the week with the particular skill, I found release questions that matched the skill and showed the kids what they would encounter. We called it "Beat the Test" time on the schedule. We practiced the question with different numbers until every student had the right answer.

I am not sure how I could transfer this over the LA since there are so many elements to each skill.

I am so happy for you! I know exactly how you're feeling. I just got my CST results last week and was so excited that I'm sure my next door neighbors could hear me scream!

    Anyway, kudos to you!!! :thumb:
