This morning we were writing our morning message story when one of my students said, "did you know that two girls can get married?" I didn't really respond to that. She went on, "Yeah, and did you know that they can still have babies?" Man, I really should have stopped her there, but I HAD to know where she was going with this. "They can! Their doctor gives them sperm!"

My aide was cracking up in the back.

Wouldn't you love to have been a fly on the wall last night at dinner when the discussion first came up??

Oh Wow! Kids say the funniest things.
Not to hijack your thread but each week I teach a cooking class after school.
Today as I was serving the food the kids decided they wanted to say grace! They looked at us and asked if we could, my grade partner said "Yes" and I said "Say to yourself!" They folded their hands and began to mumble..."Dear Lord..." It was the cutest thing and so funny at the same time.

Well, she is VERY smart. Everytime I introduce something in class, she already knows all about it, and more. For example, I was introducing to them how a seed grows and what plants need to survive. When we talked about plants needing air, she said, "yeah, it's called co2" It's always like that!

They don't have tv at home and so they read a lot to her or go on the internet with her.

Years ago when I subbed in a K class, I remember one darling little Vietnamese girl running on the playground yelling, "Let's play Judge Judy. I'll chase you and put you in jail." Still cracks me up - and she's in 7th grade now.

You know kids are actually guaranteed freedom of speech in school and can by law say grace out loud in school. We are just prohibited from bringing it up or saying for the group ourselves.
