    :D

I'm super happy! I've been engaged for 2 months, and so far:
-I have my wedding gown and veil (all paid for)
-My bridesmaids all have their dresses.
-Chapel is reserved and paid for
-Reception location is reserved and 1/2 paid for
-Minister is reserved and paid for
-DJ is reserved and paid for
-Photographer is reserved and paid for

I'm working on the ceremony music (I want a string quartet), and the cake/centerpieces (calls have been made). I think that's it, but I feel like I have made good progress.

Anyway, I'm just super excited about the dress and had to share. :D

    So pretty...
Can I say start compiling a list of what pictures you for sure want.
I'm talking like parents, gparents, bro/sisters... It seems we have them in our heads and then never do them...MAKE A LIST so someone can just check them off. I know both of my gparents have passed and wished we would have had one at my sis' wedding with her/her hubby and me/hubby with my gparents...never did...

I definitely plan on doing that! I want the pictures with family to move quickly, because we won't have tons of time to take pictures at the chapel.

I honestly can't remember what the back looks like...I know that it zips, and it has the lace detailing throughout. The whole day was such a blur...Surreal!

    Pigeon...
Having my own and being a part of many weddings...this always seems to be the thing that trips everybody up... You should definately have someone (maybe a hostess or a friend who isn't in the wedding but knows most of the people) to round them up and get them in the "staging" area!!! LOL!!!
    Hope all goes well....
You know the disposable cameras are a thing of the past...but it may be fun to set up a walgreens or some thing like that account that people can upload their wedding pix to, so that people can access them... I know lots of people have facebook, but for those who don't or want to order a pic it may be a fun way...

Lovely! The biggest suggestion I can make is to find someone, either a non-attendant friend or a trusted aunt, who can be your "official worrier". That can be the person who handles handing out checks, keeping guest annoyances off your radar, and making sure you have water or something stronger as needed. Our best man's wife served as a reader but also kept me from going off the rails several times.

ETA: It seems a LOT of people have this idea. ;)

    LOVE it!

Picture wise...the best thing I did was assign one person from each group to take photos. By group I mean one person from his friends, one from mine, one person from his co-corkers and one from mine, one of his cousins and one of mine, etc. Those still are our favorites.

Your dress is stunning! I really like the gauzy scarves on the skirt. It's so flowy and beautiful! When is your wedding set for? I could see that look in the spring or summer, though with something covering your arms, it can work in the winter and fall too.

Personally, I think ivory looks prettier than beige. It's so pure and it almost glows, whereas beige is a bit duller IMHO.

Question: Are you planning to invite your boss to your wedding? Fiance and I are debating if I should invite mine. We're NOT close, but she's kind of sensitive and takes things VERY personal, so I dont want to not invite her and have to pay for it at work.

    Beautiful dress!

On the picture front, I pinned an app that all the guests can download and take/share photos with their smartphones, I thought it was so cool.

    September 28th :)

Tasha-that's an awesome idea! I love the idea of having something where everyone can share photos online.

Em_Catz-I'm not sure about inviting my boss. I plan on inviting my current team, my team from my previous school, and then posting a general invite for anyone to come to the reception for drinks and dancing. I was going to ask around to see what other people have done. My fiance is inviting his boss.

My aunt just sent me the pics of the other dresses I tried on...Here is the other one I was considering. Part of me really wishes I would have gone with this dress. The only problem is, I couldn't walk in it! I could barely step up on the little pedestal, so I can't even imagine walking down the aisle. Or dancing! The lady said it was just my size, too.

Oh it's beautiful! I just got engaged on Christmas Eve and I want to get everything done asap, but I doubt my budget is going to allow that! Step one: set a date. Still working on that one! I hope the rest of your wedding planning goes smoothly.

I love the gown you selected, drivingpigeon. It is very romantic. I hope all the plans go well and the wedding itself is a joy.

So true about the photos. They are a large expense and something tangible that you'll treasure forever. So, get what you want!! My niece's photographer never got pictures at each table, and omitted other family groups that you'd think any professional would know to include. And my niece even used a wedding planner (who was not really all that much help).

Congrats! If I were in charge of paying for things, we would have basically NOTHING done yet. Thankfully, my fiance is an incredibly thrifty saver, so we've been able to pay for a lot of things right away. Weddings are so expensive...We're trying to keep it inexpensive, and we figure it's going to cost around $16,000.

Peachyness-I agree that the 2nd one shows off my booty more. That's why I think my fiance would have liked that one!

In all honesty, I think that second dress is fabulous!

They're very different and both really pretty. I think being able to move and DANCE on your wedding day is pretty important. There's no need to be miserable on your big day because you can't breathe or move.

    Congrats!
Wow! You have to pay for the chapel and minister?
I figured that churches should be free for people.
When Jesus was on earth, he did not get paid for
whatever He did. (Some churches are businesses, so to each his own.)
BTTMS..You have a GREAT time and may everything work out as planned. Enjoy your special day!

    Petticoat- no, didn't look clean
    Shrug- similar to this one
Shoes- similar to these in dark purple

It's not necessarily that churches are businesses, but ministers (and other professional church workers) have to be able to make a living. They also often have a lot of school loans (in my church, it's undergrad plus a 4-year postgrad program, including an unpaid internship year). Jesus was supported directly by his followers (given food, shelter, etc.); today that is usually done more indirectly by a paycheck. Plus, somebody has to pay for the heat/air conditioning, electricity, cleaning, etc. in the building.

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled thread...

    KinderKids-it's September 28th :)

CutNglue-I went with the first one (the one in ivory with the lace).

As for the chapel, it is at a historical park: http://www.heritagehillgb.org/weddings/church

It costs $750 for 3 hours (this includes using the park for pictures). Our minister is $275. We actually haven't even met her, but she was highly recommended.

Thanks, I love it, too! We take our kids there for a field trip every year, and whenever I saw the chapel, I thought about how I wanted to be married in it. :)
