I have decided that I have a black cloud over my head
    First NCLB Came along
Five years ago my sister died
Four years ago my mother died (but Grand daughter was born the same day)
A Principal who thought he was Napoleon (same size too) he left.
New Principal is afraid of losing his job because we are in our second year of "Improvement" on our "Educational Report card"
Wife has been working out of town for a year
I fell and my leg just doesn't want to get better (well it is slow in healing)
Moved to math which I was not comfortable with.
Moved back to shop but with NO Budget so I have had to teach mad angry kids who though they'd get to make stuff but instead had to do drafting the whole Semester.
And to top it off my van was stolen Tuesday just under$4,000 damage and $3,000 worth of stuff stolen (2 laptops GPS, etc.)

So it is no wonder I am retiring

    Now I feel better
    THANK YOU :D

Aww, Dave, don't despair. I know it feels good to vent, and we are here to listen (or read). I always find comfort knowing that I will never be given more than I can handle-even when I'm pushed to the brink. You know what they say, that which does not kill you...

I got this on some chain email once. It was actually one that sounded decent, so I kept it, and when I read your email, I had to find it again. Supposedly this was Kirk Douglas saying this, but who knows, it could have been some teenager who was bored. In any case, whoever wrote it did a pretty good job.

    1. WHEN THINGS GO BAD, always remember: It could be worse.
    2. NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP. Keep working on your speech and your life.
    3. NEVER LOSE YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR. Laugh at yourself, laugh with others.
    4. STEM DEPRESSION by thinking of, reaching out to and helping others.
    5. DO UNTO OTHERS as you would have them do unto you.
    6. PRAY, not for God to cure you but to help you help yourself.

    Peace!

    From a favorite song:
"If your goin' though hell, keep on goin, don't slow down, if you're scared don't show it, you might get out 'fore the devil even knows you're there"

    Enjoy your well deserved retirement!

I know this lady from another site I go to every day and she posts inspiratonal quotes every day....... Here is todays. (not kidding it sure fits).

    HOPE FULFILLED
It is wonderful to live with hope in your heart. Yet by itself, hope will not accomplish anything.

By all means, hope for the very best. Then put that hope into action.

It is positive, productive, effective action that will bring about those things for which you hope. Let hope be your reason to act, and not a substitute for action.

Hope will put your mind and your spirit in a positive place. Hope can strengthen your will for doing whatever is necessary to move forward.

Keep hope alive within you. Treasure it, nurture it, and allow its warm, enriching glow to fill your world.

With your skills, your resources, your commitment and persistence, bring that hope to life. Through your own efforts, be the living fulfillment of the best of your hopes.

    -- Ralph Marston

here is another one for ya:

    ENCOURAGING WORDS

Imagine how great it would be to have someone providing you with a constant supply of encouragement. When you get in the habit of encouraging yourself, that is exactly what you can have.

All day long, you are thinking and saying things to yourself. You have the power to choose precisely what those thoughts and those words will be.

Choose to make them positive, uplifting, and encouraging. Make good use of the thousands of opportunities you get each day to provide yourself with support and direction.

When you catch yourself mentally beating up on yourself, decide to stop such destructive behavior right then and there. Instead, give yourself a few words of real, sincere encouragement and notice how much more energized and effective you immediately feel.

In addition, get in the habit of offering encouragement to others whenever you get the chance. That will make you more likely to send even more encouragement in your own direction.

During each waking moment, you are constantly thinking or talking to yourself or others. Choose to use all that dialogue to move yourself and your world in a positive direction.

    Remember these lyrics, too:

... sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug...

Okay, not too uplifting, but, hey you're retiring soon, right? That's something positive.

    Dave,

I'm sorry that you are feeling down... however, as everyone else said you have to look for those positives. This wil pass and you will feel better again.

Dave, I think I'm under part of that cloud, too!
Grandpa died while we were on a family vacation in Florida, Christmas 1999.
    Mother-in-law died Thanksgiving, 2006.
Our house was broken into two weeks ago...I think by former students!
Husband went back to school to get a degree in 2003, so I've been working two jobs, and we still barely make ends meet.
Daughter is screwing up BIG TIME lately, in and out of school.

    SERENITY NOW!

    The Serenity Prayer

    God grant me the serenity
    to accept the things I cannot change;
    courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

I am not a religious person, but this simple saying has got me through a lot of hard times. I hope it helps you, Dave because I can tell that you are a really good person.

    Guess what Dave,

Well guess what Dave...I was fired two weeks ago!

Let me see, since I joined AtoZ, I have had 5 jobs?? Maybe six if you count subbing.

I go to the cushy nice suburbs, and could sub forever and wonder why they won't hire me full time. Back the the city, I had an interview last week, and a parent and teacher got into a fight! Sigh!

maybe I am too paranoid to keep a decent job...because I have been abused and missued, and I don't trust anyone...and I don't understand why people don't understand me, when I just want to be alone.

I'm over qualified to work for Wal-Mart, but unwilling to work in a war zone deep in the heart of Chicago. I am close to 50, with little hopes of a retirement package.

I am a black cloud...in more ways than one ...I stand out wherever I go. And always seem to bring rain.

    We will survive....

"I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor"

At first I was afraid I was petrified
    Kept thinkin' I could never live without you by my side;
But then I spent so many nights
Thinkin' how you did me wrong
    And I grew strong
And so you're back from outer space
I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I'd've known for just one second you'd back to bother me
Go on now, go walk out the door
    Just turn around now
    ('cause) you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
    Did I crumble
Did you think I'd lay down and die?
Oh no, not.I. I will survive
    Oh as long as I know how to love I know I'll stay alive;
I've got all my life to live,
I've got all my love to give and I'll survive,
    I will survive. Hey hey.
It took all the strength I had not to fall apart
Kept trying' hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart,
And I spent oh so many nights
Just feeling sorry for myself. I used to cry
But now I hold my head up high
And you see me somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you,
And so you feel like droppin' in
And just expect me to be free,
Now I'm savin' all my lovin' for someone who's lovin' me
    Go on now.. etc.

    Dave,

Been there, done all that, couldn't afford the shirt. I'm really sorry you're going through all of that. I hope this inspirational prayer will help:

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I cannot accept,
and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people I had
to kill today because they pissed me off.

    :lol::lol::lol:

that's like...if you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they're yours. If not, hunt them down...

    sorry...I didn't mean that...

hunt down the person who is now happy from all that hard work you did!

    :p

I've had a bad year too at school....lost several loved ones in the past few years....and it has caused health problems. I just try to get through one day at a time. Friends and family help. Talking to someone who actually cares and listens, but doesn't try to solve everything for you, helps.

When you need to say (Venting) you'd love the smack the living daylights out of a little pain in the mess gear fellow teachers know that you do not mean really it. or if you do they know you will not cary through with it. AND ARE NOT SHOCKED

Talking about the good old days,

    Computing,
maybe write a book on something that bugs me.
