Looks like I am buying a house My son and daughter in law and I decided to buy a house (it has to be built) With an "Grandpa apartment" it is a great floor plan, has its own garage and will give me access to my grandchildren 24/7 (if they and I want). My son and daughter in law did not qualify for the loan (work history, but may by the time we get ready to close escrow 6 to 7 months) I did qualify! It is funny I haven't own a home for 24 years I guess a pension and SS is a good income LOL. The only problem is that sometime my daughter in law and I don't see eye to eye (how can anyone not love this lovable Grandpa LOL) I am starting to get excited (like a young guy).:clap::clap:
The floor plan sounds perfect! DH and I hope to build a retirement home someday--having everything brand new would be so exciting.

You might want to protect yourself with a sidebar agreement in writing of some sort in case things don't go well...hope for the best, plan for less than the best might be the way to proceed given there seems to already be a bit of conflict. LOVE IT!!! But the laundry upstairs will be the pits for you! But I love that you have your own garage area and they can't just walk into the area.
There is a stackable hookup in the closet of the bedroom (the draftsman put it in the doorway of the bedroom LOL he didn't take MY DRAFTING class!)
It looks very nice! I love the idea of having washing machine/dryer on each floor. When my parents built their condo a couple of years ago they put a washer/dryer in their bathroom and another in the basement. What does the loft look over?

The loft is just an open area at the top of the stairs kind of a family room up stairs It will be a great play room for the kids and the down stair family room will be a true family room for all ages (kid's toys not all over the place The toys will be upstairs and in my place LOL). There are 3 entrances to my Apt, the garage, My "front" door which is behind a gate to the back yard and the connecting door to the rest of the house which will be a regular hardcore door. Terri Has a comped room at the Hotel, she will have it during the week, because we will be exactly 50 miles from her work so she will be there on the weekends (AWAY from being called in on the weekends! Like it is now since we are only a very short distance from her work now 8 min.) The garage will be mine and my son's shop
