What should I take to the hospital with me when I have my hysterectomy? We are 95% certain I'll be having the laparoscopic method, and I'll be in the hospital 2-3 days.

    • stretchy-waist pants to wear home
    • slippers
    • robe
    • toothbrush & toothpaste
    • lotion
    • chapstick
    • undies & socks
    • iPad
    • phone

My mom will be staying with me at the hospital and for a few days after I get home.

I don't think I'll need much, but I don't want to forget something really obvious. The only other surgeries I've ever had were emergencies, so I didn't have anything with me! :p

Your own shower stuff (if you're allowed to shower)
    Snacks
    Chargers for phone and iPad

Be sure to load some books or magazines or movies or something onto your iPad if you're into those things.

I have my Kindle app on my iPad, and I've got a ton of books on there. I'd forgotten my chargers. Definitely need those.

Pillows! Hospital pillows aren't the best, so I brought my own for both my c-sections.

Deodorant, hair ties, contact stuff if you need it. Make sure your pantry and fridge are stocked with light snacks that are easy to make, such as crackers, applesauce, English muffins, soup, etc. have plenty of bottles of water and sprite. When I got gone from surgery it was hard to lift the bigger bottles to fill my little bottle.
Eta:I'm not sure about this because I had a different surgery but you might need some heavy duty pads.

Room spray. I don't like the way hospitals smell and it bothers me most at night I like the small bottles from bath and body works, the lavender vanilla is relaxing and not too strong.

This might be crazy but I bring wipes. Hospitals are full of bad bacteria and such so I wipe down the phone, the tray over the bed, the door knob to the bathroom, etc

I was one of the fools who didn't know that you still bleed for a little while after a hysterectomy, so you will need those.

I was also thinking about earphones for you phone and iPad.
