I think it's really going to depend on individual districts and how they are funded. https://www.edweek.org/ew/section/multimedia/data-lookup-assess-your-school-districts-risk.html
Anyone familiar with the Good News Network? Amidst all the craziness, I love starting off my day on a positive note by reading their daily Good News In History. https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/
It’s weird because ALL the districts around me are scrambling to find math teachers. They haven’t stopped hiring.
My district has over 100 listed positions for certified teachers, maybe 25 for various admin/counselors/nurses, and around 75 for classified positions.
No, not at all. We usually have only 2-3 resignations a year (in a district of 600 teachers) and a few retirements.
We use the term classified here, too. It’s support staff: instructional aides, custodians, office staff—basically anyone who’s not credentialed.
