I will be a new chemistry teacher next year and am wondering if anyone would like to share their curriculum and favorite activities.

Also, if anyone has any tips or warnings for a new teacher, I would be eternally grateful!

    Thanks!! :thumb:

I would be glad to share what I have with anyone. I can put it in goggle docs and share the folder with you. You would need to give me a couple hours to get it on google docs and you would need to PM me your e-mail address to share the folder with you.

Here's a tip: Frank Schaffer workbooks are a life saver! They cost like 15 bucks but will save you hours in time. They're good especially for lower level students. I couldn't survive without them.

Does Texas still allow real labs to be done? My state has imposed a lot of new safety regulations. At the safety workshop we seemed to all come to the conclusion there is not a single lab that should be done that involves glassware, heat, chemicals, etc. Every question we asked seemed to be answered with that conclusion. We did learn of virtual labs, but until we can get them, I decided I will have to continue as I always have and just wait to get fired. I have taught various lab classess for over 20 years since 1980 and the worst that has happened was a kid who didn't pay attention to the procedures got a minor burn and dropped a hot piece of glass tube and broke it.
Maybe when I get fired here I'll move to Texas. Does it ever snow there?
