Is it the usual stuff...bills, etc. or something different?

I'll need it to help tide me over since I won't be working during the summer. I have $100 GC for Nordstrom, so I can treat myself w/ a little something! :D

I put it in my IRA certificate so it can earn interest =D But besides that, I usually put extra money I earn towards my tuition for my MA in Administration.. school is getting exspensive

I was just there!!! LOVED IT! I highly recommend the "collectivos" between Cancun, Playa and Tulum. They were super easy and only $3 per person each way. Go visit Tulum, you will never find a cheaper "museum" in the world - $5 pp and bring your swim suit because the beach is incredible. I wish I was there right now!!!:woot:

    Anyway, back on topic....

We put an extra 1k on our car loan (see car post...I can't wait to get rid of our payment!).
We each took about $250 to buy some clothes, shoes and other necessities.
and then we took the rest and went to Playa del Carmen.

If we get the stimulus money they are talking about, we plan to drop 100% of it on our mortgage.

Already done spending it... got some new clothes, went on a mini-vacation over Easter break, decorated my house-- actually the kitchen, dining area, and living room (wall art, candle holders & candles, picture frames, etc). Also, some also went into savings.

I am a first time home buyer for 08 so I got the 7500 split with DH. I've just paid off my student loans and my car with my return. Still have a 1000 left probably for home improvement.

For the first time in my life I had to pay. I am a big procrastinator when it comes to taxes so I got mine done last night. I was NOT expecting to have to pay several hundred dollars. :(

This is the first year in years that we get something back. And it is just enough to pay off our VISA. We like being debt free. That will leave us with just a mortgage payment.

Sigh. You guys are making me jealous. We're 8k poorer. Poo.

Perhaps the question should be how is the government spending OUR money?

Mine mostly went into the wedding fund...the rest went to bills. Df's is going to the wedding fund also...and with our refunds we have almost enough to cover all of our expenses for the wedding! (of course my parents are paying for some too...our refunds weren't THAT much )

What refund? We got back - are you ready for this - $8. DH donated it to some charity while doing the taxes. No refund for us (federal). Our state refund will be about $1000, and will go toward a new door to our deck. Which we badly need.

I didn't make enough last year to pay anything...so no refund for me. Easier than last years $8 or so, b/c I didn't have to file.

Df's is going to my engagement ring...I'd given up hope on getting one before the wedding but it looks like I will!

Any tax refund usually gets recycled to pay the next tax installment.

What refund? The government stole my inheritance and gave it to some other people so they could spend it.

    Yes, I'm bitter.

I finally opened up a savings account and I'm going to buy myself an iPhone on June 2 when AT&T lets me buy it at a NORMAL price ($299) versus the $200 additional price hike (don't even get me started on that) I would get since my contract isn't up yet.

Mine's already spent. My household appliances apparently knew I was getting some extra money, so they decided to quit. My washer and dryer went out in late November and my fridge died literally three days before I got my refund. My stove was in desperate need of being replaced, though not dead yet, so while I was at it, I bought a new stove as well. I also bought a new water heater and clothes for the boys, since they refuse to stop growing.

Well, since I was a full time student most of the year, working part time, and then only worked as a teacher a quarter of the year, it made it look like I was poor as dirt. In addition, I didn't get the stimulus check and I'm taxed as a single person with no dependents. So I got a pretty good refund back. I bought new living room furniture (got a great deal on leather soaf and love seat and went to ikea and target for side tables, coffee table and tv stand) and some decorative stuff I'd been waiting on my refund to purchase.
