markers...okay, not sure if this is the right spot, so please move if needed. My students were working on a project Friday and Monday. I was out sick on Monday, the sub let the students hang the paper on the walls and on my dry erase board. (we aren't allowed to put anything on the walls) When I removed the piece of paper from the dry erase board-I noticed the markers they used bled onto the board...I thought crap..and tried to get some out with goo gone and a good board cleaner from the janitors. I removed the paper from the wall..guess what..more marker. :help: Its behind the door so not totally noticeable..but this is a brand new room. Just built last year. How do I get it off?? Without telling anyone, I mentioned the marker on the board, but that's one thing..the wall is a whole new ballgame.
Have you tried the Mr. Clean Eraser? Those things are magic! IT has gotten even Sharpie marker off stuff.
I've used this stuff called "Goo Gone Extreme" (made by the same people as goo gone) It is in a metal container (I found it in the paint section next to the paint remover.) I used it to get paint off of bathroom tiles and sharpie off of some binders. I think it works really well, you may want to try it.
Have you tried just rubbing a dry erase marker over the marks on the board? I use permanent marker to write my students names on those plastic pencil boxes and on their plastic red folders, and if they leave, I just rub a dry erase marker over it and the permanent marker is easily removed. Might work?!
I have removed sharpie from my dry erase board by doing as peachy suggested. Color over it with a dry erase marker and then erase.
ooo I'll try that with the dry erase marker..I thought about the clean erasers..yeah they get out the world, but wanted to see if there was anything else. Luckily, we are close wed-fri for the flu and we are having teacher work days..so I have a chance to clean without kids asking..and to think..its high school lol
Peachy's suggestion of the dry erase marker over the permanant marker is the best one that leaves the least amount of permanant damage. The other suggestions, which will work, can also cause damage to the whiteboard itself.
Really?? Oh yeah, if attendance is too low, its better to close. We get funding for each student in attendance, when we are low on attendance its better to close school then we won't lose the $. Some of our elem was batting about 70% for a few days we were in the low 80% at the hs...we are the third in the area to close for a couple days due..plus, many teachers, myself included were out-running out of subs
so..the dry erase over the marker..rocks..fyi..germ-x works good, takes paint off the wall..ditto for alcohol..mr clean..nada.
