Does anybody know how to clean ink and deep pencil marks off of clipboards? I don't have desks, so the kids use those brown cheapie clipboards as their writing surface. A lot of the graffiti comes off with a regular eraser and some elbow grease, but some won't lift. School-issued cleaner and a scouring pad hasn't lifted it either. I had to put tape over an inappropriate anatomical drawing today, done in red ink, but that's a temporary fix.
Can you paint them to cover the graffiti? I'd also make sure they are assigned to individual students and they are just not using any one every day. They need to know that they should not be writing/drawing ON them and if they are assigned then you will know who did what.
I hadn't even thought about painting them. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to google if paint will stick to that type of surface. I had thought about using those duct tape sheets, but my kids would peel/shred those immediately. The kids, clipboards, and chairs all have numbers. All but one of my eight classes are good about taking the right number. I catch some of the graffiti in action, and I have a damage report "tattle sheet" to report if someone from the prior class defaced a clipboard. Negative dojo's and contacting home doesn't get the phallus off the board though. Some days, four different classes are using the same materials, so I can't catch everything immediately.
Do you have a Home Depot or similar store? I would take the clipboard over there and ask them. The paint people are really helpful.
