I sent in my resume and cover letter to a private school that is looking for science teacher.

    The response:

Thank you for your interest. We will be making a decision later this summer.

What does that mean?? Should I follow up?

This sounds like it is a generic response just to say we received your resume, etc.

    Who sent the email?

The lady I sent my resume to. Not sure who she is. Not on faculty list. Odd.
The listing (real job site for private schools) said to send to her.

I agree that it's a generic "we got your info" type of response. I assume it means they'll be deciding who to call for interviews later this summer.

Yea, I agree, generic....but also lets you know not to expect a call anytime soon.

If the lady isn't even a school employee, I wouldn't respond just yet. Give them some time to review all the applications.

fI would send a brief "Thank You" in response. Many applicants overlook the importance of that. Not only is it professional courtesy, it also gets your name in front of them one more time and set you apart from the ones that don't follow up. Besides, it will only take a couple of minutes. Well worth the time to possibly move your name up the list.:thumb:
