How often do you enter grades?

If you have an electronic grade book, that is.

I keep a paper grade book and enter grades almost right away, but my e-grade book is a different story.

I have been known to enter grades the night before progress reports and a few days before report cards. I want to get better this year, but so far not so good

I also use a paper gradebook even though we have the electronic one. I consider it a "double check" in case there is a discrepancy. Our school requires us to upload grades on the 15th and 30th of each month, so I remember by uploading right after I receive my paycheck! I also upload after a big test because the kids (and parents) want to know how they did on the test.

We're not required to have a paper one, nor are we required to enter grades any specific time other than for report cards and progress reports. Not having a paper grade book would scare me...too much room for error or loss.

We are suppose to enter grades into the district's electronic grade book on a weekly basis. In fact, not doing so could get one written up. Personally, I enter grades the day before progress reports are printed and the day before report cards upload. Yep, I'll admit not following policy.

I keep a paper gradebook and enter grades into the on-line gradebook on Friday afternoons. My class has a specialist for the last hour of the day on Friday, so I have time to get my grades in and get all set for the next week. We aren't required to use the on-line program for anything except report cards.

We are required to update our electronic gradebook by the start of school each Monday. I usually update mine daily, but I have small classes.

Two grades, per student, per class, per week. Don't ask me what I think about that policy...

I have a pretty strict schedule I keep for myself for updating. Right now, I enter 6th on Thursdays during planning, 7th and 8th on Fridays during planning. If I get behind it is a bear to get caught back up, and our parents will let you know if you don't get those 2 grades on per week...

We use an electronic gradebook. I enter grades as soon as possible, either the same day or at least by the next working day. This lets me see very quickly which parents I may need to call regarding their child's grades.

One of my sons went from an A in Reading to a D in one grading period because he wasn't taking the required AR tests (he read the books but didn't take the tests). I had no warning at all he wasn't doing the required work and no way of knowing he was not taking the tests. When I went to the teacher to ask why she never contacted their mother or myself, she lied to my face and said she HAD contacted their mother a couple of times. The lack of communication coupled with the blatant lie led me to the P's office. He kept trying skirt around the issue of her lying to me, but we did get the grade resolved.

I made a promise to myself after that that *I* would never let one of my parents get blindsided like that. If their son or daughter is struggling, then we need to talk about it as early as possible, while the student still has a chance to pull the grade up.

Our contract requires updating grades online every two weeks. Many people do it more often than that, but I also know some who have yet to put a grade on this quarter - I really don't understand why administrators don't deal with this.

I only keep my on-line grade book. Each time I update, I save a copy to my flashdrive and my computer. This way if there are problems I can get them resolved.

My problem with the on-line grades is two types of parents. I have some helicopter parents. Every time you enter a C/D/F grade, they want to know why. Then you spend two/three or more emails explaining it! Then there are my D/F students whose parents never check their grades. I send home reports, but the students don't show them to the parents. I email home reports but never hear from the parent. And I just don't have time to call and leave messages with all these parents....But when report cards come home, they want to complain???

I enter them at the end of each day usually. I've stopped using a written grade book and just print out copes of the grades for my own records. I hole punch the copies and place them in a binder.

I don't keep a paper gradebook at all.

I enter grades as I grade student work, so usually every day or every other day. I update grades to our parent-accessible website about twice per week, sometimes more often, never less often than once per week.

We're required to update our on-line grade book weekly. I personally update probably every 2-3 days. Tests for my classes are most often multiple choice and I almost always have those inputter within 24 hours. I don't mind getting the grades in the system so it's not something I procrastinate on.

I have a paper grade book where I write grades in everyday. The electronic version I update about every 2 weeks; however, our coordinator just announced that she wants us to update once a week because parents have access to the electronic version and it should be current.
