I really do have lots to do, it's just that this site is so addicting!!! I actually got offline and had to get back to pose this question: How often do you change your bedding?? I was really good about it; once a week, faithfully. Well...while making my bed, I realized that I couldn't remember when I last changed my bedding!!! (don't shoot me!). So, did I pull them off?? No, I removed the pillowcases and threw them in the washer!!! How's that for laziness?? And please don't say, I'm dirty; ok; you can say it.
I change mine 1-2 x/ week. Always on Sundays and then if it's not an insanely busy week I'll do it on Wednesdays too. I have 2 cats that like to lounge on my bed when I'm not home (and I fail to make the bed before I leave for work.) So they get pet hair on my bed (if I had time I'd change them even more.)
Ugh. This is one area my mom failed me. She always changed my sheets and never made a big deal out of it, so I never to think to do it for us. It can be a month or longer before we start to think maybe it's time to change them.
I usually change ours once a week. Sometime a week & a half. If I know they are grosser (hot weather) then sometimes 2 times.
I'm with Jem... my fiance never thinks to do it so it's up to me to do it and with a 5 month old baby, I always have other things to do.
about once a month... it depends on if we've been eating in bed on the weekend or if its been unusually hot out though.
I have a friend who changes hers everyday, so here I was thinking that I was being totally gross only washing mine once a week.
oh, nowhere near often enough. There's the time issue, plus I'm in an apartment complex, where I have to schlep the laundry across the parking lot to the laundry room, so when I do get around to doing laundry, the sheets are the last priority.
My grandmother was extremely obsessive about stuff like this. A couple of years ago, she hurt her back and nagged my uncle into leaving guests alone in his home and driving 6 HOURS to change her sheets on Sunday because the world would end if she had to wait for me to do it when I came on Tuesday to take her to the doctor. I think my mother's way of rebelling against my grandmother was by not cleaning very much at all, and growing up I can probably say we changed bed sheets maybe once every year or two. Now that I've learned how to keep my own house (semi) clean, I try to do it every week, but it sometimes winds up being two or three. I guess I figure, if I can go 2 years without changing them, then 2 weeks won't be bad
I'm with Jem and teaching-n-2 as well...I only have 2 different sheet sets. One is warm for winter, the other is cool and light for summer. So I just wash them...but it's probably once a month. But if it has been unusually hot out (our heat waves lately)---we'll wash them as needed.
Mine get changed exactly every two weeks. How do I know this? The cleaning lady does it when she comes every other Tuesday. The only time they get changed more often than that is when I have company coming (I let my company have my room, and I sleep on the sofa-bed, so I have to put clean sheets on when company comes) or if I should happen to spill something.
I will join that club too. I always have a hard time sleeping the night when I change my sheets. I guess they are too clean?
Well with summers off and getting bored it gives me more time to do it so at least once a week or once every 2 weeks but during the school year since I sub and go to college @ night well maybe a few times a mo. I am not gross but I just don't have time! I do it as much as I can!
Once every few months. I always have the best of intentions to do it more often, but it just doesn't happen. I love clean, fresh sheets, so you'd think I would do it more often. Oh well. I change them when I just can't stand it anymore.
I try to do every two weeks. Last week we were out of town, so I think it's been three. I shower right before bed, so how dirty could they be (on my side at least )
Definitely once a week and I'd really like to do them twice. I love clean sheets, they feel so luxurious. I just hate putting the sheets back on again. My cat takes up almost 1/2 of the bed so I have to vacuum her side before I wash them.
I never thought of vacuuming them first! I have 4 dogs who shed like crazy. It depends on how often they get bathed and how smelly they are. I don't know an exact time, but when they smell doggy or there are crumbs in the sheet. One week I changed them every day (one day twice!)because the silly things jumped on the bed after going out in the rain and you know how bad a wet dog smells.
I'm part of the once a month club! I've also found that I can't sleep if I didn't also wash my pj's on the same day!
DH changes ours once a week, sometimes two weeks if we've been gone over a weekend or he's been working. (He's on laundry detail.) We have more than one set of sheets, but he always washes them and puts them right back on. We shower right before bed, so we're always clean when we go to bed. When I was in college, I showered in the mornings, and I changed my sheets every Sunday and Wednesday.
Mine get changed 3-4 times a week. Now, I HATE laundry and REALLY HATE making the bed, but, between 5 cats and my irritating night sweats they get really bad really fast. Sometimes, the night sweats are bad enough that I get up and change them in the middle of the night, and forget sleeping without a waterproof mattress protector.
I too love the feeling of clean sheets after a shower! I wash/change mine probably every 2-3 weeks but will now vow to try for once a week!
Yeah, this too is something I am horrible at. Before, it would be like once per month...but then I started having really bad allergies. Turns out I am super duper allergic to dust mites and the best way to avoid them is to change bedding at least once per week. So, now I do and allergies are much better at nighttime!!
We change ours once a month!!! But we don't have pets in or on the bed, and we always bathe before we go to bed. One thing that i've started doing is vacuuming the mattress when we do change the sheets after watching "How Clean is your House." I like to throw the pillows in the dryer every couple of months too.
I'm a once a week person. Have you noticed that most of us once a weekers change sheets on Sunday? If I didn't take a shower before going to bed, I'll change them in the middle of the week though. I have four cats, but they aren't allowed in the bedroom (mainly since the girl kitten likes to sit on my head and knead my scalp with her sharp little claws about four in the morning!).
What's everyone's minimum thread count? Mine is 400. The higher the count, the faster mine wear out, but I can't go back to the 250's. Ever.
I just got 400 threat count sheets and love them! I will probably be buying more soon if I can find more on sale (just can't afford $120 a set!).
