It depends on what I am doing for the next year. This summer, I am moving classrooms; therefore, I will be spending lots of time trying to move. Just got an email from my new P, letting us know of new PD for six days. I will probably attend those. I will like to take as much time off in July that I can because we go back to work on August 5th.

I spend very little summer time on teaching stuff. I need a break, and I need to devote attention to other things. I have no built about this.

Of course, I have the advantage of always teaching the same courses, so although I rarely do exactly the same things in my classes from year to year, I don't have to retool it all.

As little as possible! I agree that things change all the time. Plus I have been teaching the same grade for 12 years now:)

We did go 1:1 this past year so I checked out my HP Slate so I could play around with it and get some ideas for the up-coming school year. It has not left my school bag yet so not sure when I will get to it:)

Will do a little math prep as we will be starting ENgage NY in August.

Summertime is for me to visit friends, have my son visit friends, nap, cook, work out, etc.

Besides hanging out on here, I generally do very little in the way of school stuff over the summer. This summer may be different in that respect because I will be moving into a new position next fall. I'm thinking of building a webpage and brainstorming some planning ideas. I haven't gotten started on any of that yet because I'm taking a couple of classes over the next two weeks. Once those are done, I might (or might not) start doing a little bit of summer work.

Ktdclark, I kinda wish to discuss Engage NY with you a bit this summer as we are also picking that up

My plan is to spend a few hours a week in the classroom this summer.

That would be great! PM me:)
We had one day of training already and I was super excited....our last math program was a dud and I rarely used it. So we are happy to have something that we can get our teeth into!

I have a PD this week and one next month. Since this was my first year in kinder after 10 years, I am going to work on redoing some things for the coming year. That will just be as I get to it though. I dedicate most of my summer to being with my own kids and traveling.

I will be working more than normal. I am teaching a subject that is new to me. I am working on a pacing guide that has to stretch over 4 years. Also, I am painting my room this summer and completely redecorating.

This is a big task. I am decorating a new room, but with my old theme. This still will be a lot of work. What is your new theme?

22 days for ESY (3 set-up days, 19 teaching days), 3 days for PD, 2 days for a session I'm teaching, and then the 5 days before teachers report. Usually, my teammates and I get together for two days over the summer, also.

It is not a theme as much as making it a calming room. I teach high school and they are always wanting to look out the windows, so I am putting up colorful orange, coral and grey curtains on all of my windows. The paint on the walls is a ugly brown with pink/beige patches and I am going to paint them grey. I also ordered new whiteboards that are the real thing and not the shower walls that we get from the hardware store. I am also changing from all desk to half desk and half tables.
