This is my 5th year. 3 years in my first school (which I don't miss one bit!) and two in my current school.
Year 6, same school, same grade. We did departmentalize for a few years, but we are back to self contained.
Fifth year teaching and it's been in the same district the whole time, second year at current school.
Kudos to you Alice. I think it's wonderful we have people who are willing to stay in this business that long. I'm on year 12 this year.
22--I have taught T-1, first, second, third, a special pullout program, and gifted and talented 2-6th.
Starting my 12th year on a permanent contract. I subbed for two years before that (with 2 long term jobs for 13 months of that two years). Before my kids were born, I taught in 2 private schools for 2 years each and worked for Easter Seals in their preschool program for 2 years. Add it all up and I've been teaching, in some capacity, for 20 years!
Starting my 10th year on Tuesday! 9th year in my current school...I have taught K (first school), 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and basic skills. This is only the second time in my career that I'll be teaching the same grade two years in a row!
I started teaching in 1965 when my fourth grade teacher needed a cigarette and would head to the little office above the library and let me help other kids doing assignments. Officially this is my 34th year and 27th in the same school.
Did 1 year of special ed teaching & this year starts my 2nd year as an SLP. (Just noticed this is my 4500th post!)
Starting five years of teaching full time, with three years of subbing on and off while taking other odd jobs (my retirement fund says .44 years from that time).
Some children who were in my Pre-K have graduated from HS and are about done with College! Do the Math.. Rebel1
#6 for me all as a kindergarten teacher. While I went to college I was a preschool and early childhood teacher for 6 years.
6 years at a small rural school (departmentalized grades 4-6, science mostly) +years at home parenting and teaching at church +sub years again. Started 7th year at current school (5 years science, 1 year English, this year SS). So technically, 13 years.
I am in my 4th year.. 3 years at one school, and beginning my first year in a new district and a new grade.
I'm going into my 5 year of teaching, 3rd year in my current district/position. I've subbed and was an aide in between so been teaching in some capacity for 8 years.
This is year 13. All special ed but different levels 1 year K-6 (half time @ 2 schools = full time teacher) 1 year 6-7-8 the rest have been 4th grade at same school
This is my 5th year (all in the same school) but I do not see myself in the classroom forever or for even that much longer. I plan on getting my degree in administration so that I have some other options.
This is year 5 for me of full time teaching - this is the first year that I'll be at the same school two years in a row, and it feels great not to have to move or learn student names!
This is year 6 for me. I taught 3rd grade for 3.5 years in Idaho, 5th grade for 0.5 a year at a charter school in Hawaii, 4th grade for 1 year at a different school in Hawaii. Now I'm teaching music, at the same school where I taught 4th grade last year.
This is year 5 for me. Alice - this is my 2nd career - most teachers my age are retiring, and I still have 16 years to go!
This is my 12th year, 13th if counting an emergency credential year. I have taught at three different schools. It is my eighth year at my current school.
