I come from a household of teachers! One brother-in-law is a science teacher, sister-in-law is a 3rd grade teacher, cousin is a Superintendent, another brother-in-law is a college professor, several cousins are principals and teachers.

When we get together you can rest assured that our conversations are lively!

Are you a lonely only professionally in your family or do you have lots of teachers in your family tree?

My mom is an aide in a preschool. One of her cousins teaches kindergarten.

I have an aunt who teaches as well as her daughter (my cousin).

And my grandfather was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse at one point, but I believe it was only a year or two.

Zero. On my mom's side, out of 12 cousins, I'm one of two that actually finished college.

No teachers on my dad's side, no teachers either. I have a few second cousins who went to college but they didn't become teachers.

Even among my inlaws, where college is expected, there are no current teachers. And all of the former teachers are very distant relatives of her.

My sister is a teacher, my dad has two sisters who were teachers - one became a principal. There are four girls in our family, two are teachers and two are nurses.

My mother had two sisters who were/are parapros, one of them had a husband who was a jr high math teacher. The other one and I work at the same school. There are four cousins that I can think of my mother's side who are/were teachers. My first cousin is a school nurse and her husband is a SPED teacher/coach. I have another first cousin and his wife who are teachers. The more I type the more I think of, I have a first cousin who is a parapro. There are many distant cousin on my dad's side who were teachers.

I think that's it!!!! I didn't realize there were so many.

My grandmother was the librarian at the middle school and than elementary school for 25 years. Does that count? She had to teach lib skills to all the students in the school. We would go once a week for 40 mins. Other than that I am the only one.

Oh, my fiance mother is a teacher and I have a younger cousin who is teaching.

My SIL is a teacher and so is a first cousin of mine. I also have a few 3rd cousins who are teachers. I didn't even know they were teachers until recently because I don't see them too often. At least we have something to talk about now at family gatherings!

    (snickering)

    I bet she would, too.

Three of my kids' four grandparents were in education, and the fourth should've been. By the time I was ten, one of my household chores was correcting papers.

At first I thought I was the only one, then I thought about it and my mom taught religious ed for years (mostly the first communion classes and alter server training), and my sister was an aide in a preschool before she got married (she's a stay at home mom now). One of my cousins is an English professor and her husband is also a professor, though I can't remember what he teaches. Also, my SO is a professor. I think I'm the only primary/secondary teacher though.

I am the only teacher in my extended family, but my boyfriend has at least 10 immediate and extended family members(sisters/brothers/in-laws, cousins, etc.) that are either school administrators, retired teachers, current teachers, or people in school studying to become teachers.

In fact, those teachers were a huge part of my decision to become a career-changer teacher!

Well immediate family-wise, my mother had a mid life career change and is now a ESL/REading specialist.

My two future SIL's are teachers. One is an OT, but has lots of teaching responsibilities, and another is a college professor.

Besides me, my sister is a teacher, my SIL has her degree in Elem Ed, but is staying at home with her boys right now. My dad's cousin is a HS English teacher. On my husband's side of the family, he has an "uncle" (long story about that) that teacher MS, a cousin that is about to graduate with her English degree and she'll be looking for a teaching job. Another cousin that has been looking for an English job for a few years (she's being very selective). My BIL's ex-wife is a teacher.

Now, people I graduated HS with, TONS of teachers in that group.

Me too!! I do not think I had my hair cut at an actual salon until I was in high school. We always went to my Aunt or cousin who both owned salons but had a "home station" for the family. :):):)

My aunt owned a beauty school so everyone went to beauty school whether they wanted to or not. So half of my family are teachers and the other half are hair dressers. Then there is my mom--she has been both at various times.

We have lots in my family. My mom (we work in the same school right now, until she retires at the end of this year), my sister, an aunt (retired), and two great-aunts. I also have my dad's family history, back to Germany, and there are quite a few other relatives who've been teachers in the past. My husband's cousin is also going to school right now to become a teacher.
