I am just wondering how many sick and personal days days do you get a year and do they roll over?

As a Para, i get 13 sick days (which roll over to 100 days) and 5 personal days each year. Two of those days are actually floating holidays for Lincoln's Birthday and Veteran's Day but are treated as personal days..we can use them anytime we want for any reason..if we don't use them we lose them!

When I was a Teacher I was given 3 personal days and had to ask permission in writing, give at least 48 hrs notice and they could only be used for specific reasons.

The Teachers are given 15 sick days in my district.

    Thanks :)

I get 12 sick days and 1-4 personal days depending on how many sick days we have accumulated.

    I'm actually not sure!

The school I am quitting gave us 7 sick and 2 personal.

NC school did it by years of service. 1st year teachers earn 1 sick day/month, by your 5th, you earn like 1.25 days/month. I had over 40 left when I quit, after 6 years. And I know I used at least a dozen for job interviews.

We get 10 days for sick/personal days combined. We don't have to report where we are for personal days, but it is "strongly suggested" that we use personal days for things that can't be done at another time and not just for random days off. I feel like if someone actually took 10 personal days, that would be frowned upon. We can be asked for a doctor's note if we're gone for more than 3 days in a row. We were also warned at orientation that teachers who consistently take Mondays/Fridays off will be "talked to."

    10 sick
    2 emergency
    1 personal

    Sick roll over indefinitely.

Personal converts to sick if unused.

    Emergency are "use or lose".

At our school, we lose anything we don't use during the same year -- nothing rolls over. It seems quite unfair, actually, but overall I love my school so much I can overlook it.

Really? Are you in a public school?

My school in NC rolled over. Annual Leave turned to sick, too. I know teachers who have saved years worth of days to retire early.

-10 sick days, which roll over from year-to-year
-3 personal days, but the teacher has to pay for the sub ($150/day!). They need 2 weeks notice.

Gotcha. Since salary and benefits are the same in NC, I assumed sick days were, too. Which is why I figured you weren't in a public school :)

We get about 15 sick days which roll over.

We get 1 universal flex day to be used for anything. If it is unused, this one might get rolled over as a sick day or else it just disappears. I'm actually not sure.

We get either 0, 2, or 4 personal days, depending on how many sick days we took the previous year. These do not roll over, but you get paid for any that you don't use.

I used about 50 sick days last year, maybe a little more. I would have used more, but my district has stupid rules about how sick days can be used for maternity/paternity leave. I still have a balance of about 50 sick days in my leave bank.

WOW! 50 days in one school year? Were you in the hospital? One of my co workers had to be out for 6 weeks due to surgery.

Three personal days, which roll over to sick days if unused.

Fifteen sick days, to a max of 300.

We cannot use personal days immediately before or after a long week-end or break.

10 personal illness days, up to 5 days for "other"--family illness, moving, graduation, funeral. No personal days. Unused days no longer accumulate; we lost that benefit (along with our bank of accumulated days) when our current contract was imposed.

I get four automatic personal days that (if not used) turn into sick leave at the end of each school year. I'm not sure how many hours of sick leave we are able to earn per school year, but I know i have at least a couple months worth because I try not to take off unless I'm really under the weather

I'm not actually completely sure to be honest with you. I think it's 10 sick days a year and they do roll over, plus 3 personal days that - I think - roll over as sick days.

10 days per year, there's no distinction between sick and personal unless you abuse it. We get all 10 in September, and what you don't use gets carried over each year.

I think it's 8 days, they don't roll over. We do get paid something for any days we don't use, and if you don't use any there's a bonus.

We get 20 sick days per year, which roll over. We can only use 3 in a row without getting a doctor's note. They can be used for illness or for medical appointments.

We get 5 compassionate days which are supposed to be used to care for sick family members (including children) but seeing as they need to be approved in advance, not many people use them (I don't know how you're supposed to clear it in advance when your child starts barfing in the middle of the night). Most people will just call in sick.

We get no personal days at all.

I only know that teachers with less than 5 years get 2 personal days per year. After that, I think it's 3, then 4, then 5..... don't know the steps... All personnel earn 1 sick day per month. Personal days roll into sick days at the end of the year.

We also have a sick bank so that's kinda nice to know. :)

In NC I had some kind of day (emergency? personal?) where you had to pay for your sub. It was only $50 or $60. I don't even know what they were called because no one used them!

Teachers get 10 days/year (sick/personal/etc. all combined together).

    Administrators get 12 days/year, I believe.

I used up almost three weeks last year after I had an emergency appendectomy. I think I ended this school year with 25 days in my sick leave bank.

Our new union is currently fighting for more sick days and I honestly don't care if we get them, we already get 13 plus 5 personal days...I am just about the money:D

We have a union meeting next week about our contract negotiations, I just want bigger pay raises---that's honestly all I care about!

They are going to ask for 15 sick days instead of the 13 we already get..i really don't think we need anymore..i would actually take less (10 per year) if it meant a huge raise!!!!!

I already have a little over 160 hrs (25 days) of sick time accrued so I am ok with not receiving anymore.

I can't wait until they are done with negotiations, its been 5 months already.

We get 8 sick/personal days to use at our discretion. They don't rollover at the end of the year. For any days beyond the 8 days, we got docked pay, even with a doctor's note.

I work at a private school.

My school handbook says that teachers receive one sick leave day per month for a total of twelve days per year. I can use three sick days per year as personal days. That being said, I've accumulated over a month of sick time, and I might talk with HR about having to take a personal day for a religious holiday (Yom Kippur) and asking if that can be forgiven.
