Now that the year is over or almost over, how many sick days did you use up?
Hey Cassie, How many sick days do you get in this district?
I think 15 days per year, but I always donate one to the sick leave pool.
Here's a link to our contract: http://ccsd.net/jobs/imagesDownloads/CCEA-CCSD N.A. 2005 2009.pdf
I think it's good through this school year.
Three for me. Ever since I got pneumonia a few years ago, somewhere around the worst of the cold/flu season I get a respitory cold, and now I take it seriously.
I was unlucky enough to get a horrible stomach virus that lasted a few days and had a major knee injury. Not at the same time though...lol.
I took one sick day. I was off much more than that, but all of my other absences were due to workshops, conferences or meetings. I get 20 sick days a year.
I used all of mine. I never have before, but I had a rough group this year and it was completely necessary for my sanity alone! But also, I am leaving the county this year so I figured, use 'em or lose 'em! I am moving to NC!
I used 0 sick days - 1 personal day. I had a few conference/training days that I attended during the school year, but those don't count towards sick/personal leave.
I get 10, I used 13... but I had 3 Grandparents pass away this year, so I spent much of fall on planes to funerals. It came out of my sick days.
I took about 4 half sick days to go to the doctor following the car accident I was in in November. I finally had to take a half sick day the second to last day of school because I was actually sick. I was lucky this year and got sick during Christmas break, spring break, and a couple snow days.
I used 1 sick day but it was a PD Day and I wasn't sick .
I used 2 sick days. However, I used 3 personal days this year. I get 12 sick days and 5 personal days (3 with pay and 2 without pay ).
We have to pay for our sub for our personal days - you get one day where we pay 1/2 of their salary and one day where we pay all of their salary.
I was out 2 days because my grandmother passed away and I had to fly to Iowa for the funeral. I also took 1 personal day.
I took about nine days this year, due to having surgery. I've never used more than 2 before. It was a rough year.
I was out over 40 days, but I had special circumstances this year- husband diagnosed with cancer and his resulting death. Typically, I don't use the five allotted days.
I got a nasty bout of flu and used 2 sick days. I also used 2 personal days because I was maxed out on those and would lose them if I didn't use them. This is the first time I've ever used any kind of days in the last 3 years.
I took 2 sick days, but I also took off for a personal day, three days on a field trip, and my birthday.
I did not use any sick days. The days I was out were staff development days. Hopefully I'll be as blessed to remain healthy next year. We get 12 sick and 3 personal. I'm trying to save them up for marriage and babies.
I used five of my fifteen sick days (some for me, some for my kids), both of my personal days (I use them every year), and I was out numerous days for meetings. I wish my district would stop this trend of having us attend meetings on days when we should be with kids.
We get 10 days & can roll them over, so I started out with 16, I think I will have used 5 by the time the year is over Thursday. (My son has a 6th grade promotion, during the day that I'm going to.) The rest of the days were days that I took to go with my husband to the dr. He's had a rough time lately, he's had to go to different specialists. I think we got everything worked out.
We get 12 sick days each year that roll over. I think I've used 5 this year. This is my second year teaching and I seem to get sick a lot. I'm hoping my immunity will keep building because it isn't fun being sick!
This was a bad year for me. I used 8 sick days (one of those was taking my mom to the eye specialist).
Last year I used two.
We get 10 (sick/personal) a year and are allowed to roll over 5. We also get up to 3 days for bereavement (immediately family) that won't count against the 10.
I used 5 days. 1 sick and 3 personal (vacation/ family reunion) and gave 1 day to my daughter (who worked at same school) to take care of my sick grandkids.)
We get 15 sick days (all can roll over), 3 personal days use them or lose them, and 3 to 5 bereavement days (depending on who passed away)
We get ten. I used five and saved five. Being a cancer survivor has its benefits. One of them is playing hooky to rock my new grandsons! I don't want to waste precious days being sick!!
We get 12 sick (they roll over), and 3 personal (use or lose).
I didn't use any of my days.
We get 10 sick days and 3 personal days. All of the sick leave and up to 2 of the personal days can roll over. I used 1 personal day, and 5 sick days (I had pneumonia, and was out for 4 straight days! The other time I had "intestinal" upset.)
I have almost 8 weeks of accumulate sick leave.

I used 16 days. My daughter had 2 heart procedures (10 days), 6 days for off campus workshops.
That's terrible losing 3 Grandparents in one year!!! I'm so sorry for your losses.
I'm so sorry. The teacher who teaches next door to me lost her husband two years ago April 3rd. He had a sudden heart attack, died at 37. He was her soul mate. She took off the remainder of the year.
I took one sick day (kids gave me the virus that they kept trading back and forth) and 1 personal day (had to be home for my hardwood floors to be installed). I currently have around 50 days stacked up. I am still confused about how we are going to accumulate sick days next year (county is changing the policy and we aren't supposed to receive them up front any longer). I still haven't heard a "decisive" answer about the personal days.
Only 2. One for a funeral (my sisters best friend)and one for an out of town wedding.
I think I've used two days in each of my previous two years of teaching also.
If I don't use my sick days, I lose them . I think this practice is horrible because I know a lot of teachers who just phone in sick so that they don't "waste" any of their sick days. I would love to get my sick days rolled over.
I think I took 4 or 5 sick days . . . and only one of them for my own illness--a nasty stomach bug. My dad isn't in good health, and I sometimes have to take him for procedures. My mom doesn't drive, and I'm an only child. I was out about that many days for meetings of one kind or another, and then I used an emergency day when my college roommate's mother died.
We get two emergency days, ten sick days, and one personal day per year. The emergency days are "use or lose", but the personal day and sick days roll over . . . although the personal day rolls over as a sick day. We can also "convert" days sometimes. I know that they let me convert an emergency day to a sick day the last week of school.
I get 10 sick days and 2 personal days a year. Normally I use only 2 or 3 a year but this was an unusual year. I took 4 days off when my best friend's husband unexpectantly pasted away in Jan then I took 5 days off when my best friend pasted away from cancer in April. We had known each other for nearly 25 years and were more like sisters. Her children refer to me as their aunt since she didn't have any sisters.
I used 3
I was paid for over 180 sick days at my retirement about $55 a day nice little nest egg
I had 16 sick days this year, and I know I used approximately half of them. Of course, I was hospitalized for several days and really had no choice in the matter. I also have to see a doctor every three months for a check up with a condition I have. Those are sick days.
I also used to my two EDO's (Earned Days Off - for extracurricular involvement, since coaching doesn't involve pay in Canada) and a personal day at 1/2 pay for interviews.
We get 10 days each year. Five can carry over and five will be lost if not used. So, again this year, I missed 5 days!
