I am wondering how many of you have this in your classroom. I am thinking of getting one and would like some input. What do you use it for and stuff. I want to get the pink and purple one but my boys might not like it as much
I used to have them at the daycare I worked at... I loved them... perfect for storing tabletop toys, little items, counters, math manipulatives, craft supplies, you name it... it was wonderful... Of course our bins were red, green, yellow and blue... I wouldn't have gone for those girly colors
I have one, but it is in primary colors. I love it. I store the "indoor recess" toys in it -- blocks, cards, etc.
I have them in the red, green, yellow, and blue. I use them for my reading and math supplies for centers, and as well as guided reading groups.
We had them in our 5th grade classroom and used them for our "group" supplies for colored pencils, crayons, staplers, rulers, etc. It worked out well until one of the kids sat on the top and snapped the first pole. We are looking to see if we can replace the top pole this summer. I think they can serve so many uses in the class.
Do the boxes have lids on them? I think I would like a set like this but with lids so they can be transported without spillage...
I have one with the red, green, blue, and yellow bins. I store pattern blocks, unifix (sp?) cubes, blocks and other math/inside recess toys in them. They are great! The kids do a really good job taking them out and putting them away - without spilling them too!
Is there a reason you want the pastels?? If you bought this one and had a use for the pink and purple at home, you can replace the bins. They have the exact same ones at storables. I bought them for my classroom last summer in light green, yellow and orange (they also have red, purple and blue.) I couldn't find them on the website but look around at Storables and The Container Store. Lakeshore also has them. Maybe if you can't find more pastel colors, you can just get white ones instead. I don't think my boys would like pink and purple in the classroom.
I have it at home for my kids. It's great for storing smallish items (I am thinking Legos, stamps and stamp pads, etc), but larger items are really hard to fit in (we have one tub for musical instruments at home and it's a pain). Kim
I am not really going to get them in pink and pastels, I just secrectly wish I could cause it's cute I am going to get them in primary colors to go with the room flow
I just got one at a thrift store for $10!:2up: It's in really great shape, so I'm excited to use it in the classroom! I plan on putting group supplies like colored pencils, crayons, scissors, rulers, compasses, protractors, etc. in it!
One of the teachers on my team has one, and she stores all of her math manipulatives in it. So when we do something with unifix cubes, her four tables go get a tub from the shelf. They do have many great uses, I've seen them used for supply storage, center storage, etc.
I have one in my classroom and used it for pencils, rulers, scissors, crayons, etc. this year. I like it except that with crayons, pencils, etc. if you fill it too full they will fall out.
I have one in my classroom. I got mine from Target last summer. It is white, with blue, green, and pink bins. I use it to organize math manipulatives and materials.
I almost bought one, but was afraid everything in the bins would get dirty/dusty. Our school is very dusty!!!
Some of these posts make me wonder if we are not reinforcing the idea of masculine/feminine colors. Lots of younger children I know do not identify colors as such, and I know it is because their parents have not put that idea in their heads.
I have one and love it! I teach sixth grade and use it as our art center. The large boxes contain assorted construction and tissue papers. The smaller boxes are for extra scissors, markers, glue, colored pencils and crayons. Every few weeks I have two students sort and organize it.
I have the primary colors. It is used as my student supply center (scotch tape, glue sticks, rulers, construction paper, stapler, scissors, etc.).
I have the primary color one because that is what my director bought me!! I love it!! That is a great price.
