Or, if you haven't had a job offer yet, how many interviews have you had so far?

I've had four, but no job offer yet. In two of the interviews they decided to go with another candidate, one decided to re-post the position after a day of interviews, and the last one doesn't plan to hire until just before school starts - but they wanted to do the interviews while the teachers were still there to participate in the interview process.

I was offered a job on my 3rd interview this year. However, for my first year of teaching, I think I received my offer I think it was around my 7th or 8th interview that I received an offer.

This year, I had 5 first interviews before getting the second interview for my job, which I was then offered.

For this year, I think it was 6. They all wanted me to explain why I was nonrenewed from my last district but I couldn't tell them because I was never given an explanation.

I've had to look for jobs 3 times because my husband is in the military and we've had to move. For both my first and second jobs I only went on one interview and got hired on the spot. For my third job I went on around 8-9 interviews and then got offered 3 jobs right around the same time.

I started with one general screening interview the middle of April. The next week I attended a job fair where I participated in six 15 minute interviews. Later on in May, I went on three interviews. One hour after my third interview in May, I received a job offer from May interview number three.

For this job it was the second interview I went on.

Last job I think I went on like 10 total.

It's been 13 years since I last interviewed for my current job...but when I was interviewing, I think there was only one where I wasn't offered the job. I've been told I 'give a good interview'.

I've taught in 9 schools. Two of those schools I received an offer after interviewing with one other school. The remaining seven schools hired me after that one interview.

Last year at this time I had 5 interviews completed and was offered a job after the 6th one. This was over a six month period. This time around I'm relocating with a year of experience and did three over the phone within two weeks and was offered a job after the third phone interview.

I haven't interviewed since 2003 and 2004, so its been a while :) The first year I had around 10 interviews (including and 1 offer. The second year I had about 12 interviews (including 2nd rounds) and 2 offers. I was one of the unlucky ones who made it to the finals and they usually went with someone who was a sub or student taught in the district. Lucky for me I don't plan to go anywhere anytime soon ;)

I interviewed last hiring season. I got hired from my very first "official" interview process - an interview and a demo lesson. I do realize I was EXTREMELY blessed.

I interviewed at 17 different schools this year (canceled one- could have been 18), and 4 last year. Adding in second and third interviews, it took me about 30 interviews to get my job.

My first year teaching, I only went on one interview and was offered the job. When I was looking last year, I went on 9 interviews, and then was offered two jobs on the same day. I'm hoping I won't be interviewing again anytime soon.

Two years ago as a new teacher: 6 interviews, accepted first job offer. 1 job fair. First interview in late May.

This year: 11 interviews plus some phone interviews, accepted first job offer. 3 job fairs. First interview in March/April.

Last year I only interviewed for one and didn't get the job. I spent a year abroad and didn't get back in time for prime job hunting. This year, I went on 3 interviews - accepted first job offer which was the 3rd interview.

My first year I went on 7-8 interviews before being hired mid year. This time was much easier. I had two interviews in one day and was called back 2 days later from the first to ask me if I wanted the job. It was so amazing what one years experience will do for you.

In the last 6 years I've interviewed for 5 positions and was offered (and accepted) 3 of them. Of the two that I didn't get, one was a phone interview and one was for a teacher-share position that literally lasted all of 5 minutes.

I think I'm a good interview, but I also think I'm in a great area for jobs (Jacksonville, FL).

Just assuming here that you teach German, right? I want to add German onto my license by taking the Praxis II, which we can do here in NC. I've taken through German Conversation & Composition II, so I have had 6 levels of German and am confident in being able to teach it.

We only have one high school within 60 miles that offers it, in your opinion, is there a whole lot of competition for German? I imagine it certainly doesn't have any many qualified people to teach it as *most* subjects out there, so I've been assuming that there will be only a few applicants for that position when it opens up in the next few years. ??

I interviewed at four schools/district and was successful on the fourth interview. One school also invited me back to do a demo, but I had already accepted the offered job.

I have applied for two jobs this year and was rejected both times. Second time made it to the finals. Hoping third time is the charm.

In previous years I have been hired after only one or two interviews. So it's really kinda discouraging.

When I first finished grad school, I probably had about 10 interviews. The next time it took a year and I lost track of interviews. That was back in 2007.

It really depends on the school district. Most of the time there are 5 applicants max. I went on one this year that didn't have any other applicants - it was just me haha. The school district I ended up with a job at had 10 applicants. The problem that I find with a lot of German positions is that most of them are part time positions, and I wasn't willing to take one of those. The Praxis II is a little difficult - it's reading, writing, listening AND speaking. The speaking portion is awkward. If you do end up taking the test, PM me and I'll tell you what to expect in more detail. Hope that helped!

For my first teaching job- I had to go on 5 interviews. The 5th interview got me the job... actually, I just walked in after seeing the job posted online... introduced myself and was offered a LTS position after a on the spot demo lesson. After being the LTS for 30 days, I was offered the job.

This second job that I'm about to start only took one interview. I got the call within an hour.

I went on SO many this year! Last year I went on one interview and was offered the job. This year I think my total was somewhere around 12-15. I kept being told that I was a "top candidate" but not the one being chosen. Then I was offered two jobs and I believe I would have been offered a third had I gone to the final interview (I decided to accept one of the other offers instead). The final interview for the 3rd school was just for me and one other candidate where we had to prepare an IEP based on data (one of my big strengths).

In the past, five plus years ago, I'd apply for a job and immediately get an interview and an offer (I teach a hard-to-fill subject, typically with few applicants).

This time around I have applied for five positions, got three interviews - one of which went to stage two and a demo - and no offers. The ones getting chosen are beginners.

Hopefully something else will turn up before the summer ends, but I think my local hiring season is probably done.

3 years ago as a hopeful elem teacher: 7 teaching interviews, no offers, and 2 SPED associate interviews, no offers.

2 years ago, I interviewed for 1 SPED associate position and nailed it.

This year, with a graduate degree in SPED: 5 interviews (all were in May). I was offered the positon of the 5th school I met with right after the interview and accepted it after considering it over the weekend. After accepting my new position, I've had to turn down 1 other job offer and 3 more interviews.

Last year before I had my certification, I interviewed with 3 schools and would have been offered a position at my 3rd interview, but she decided to go with someone who already had their certification. This year I've been on 3 interviews and was hired on the spot during the 3rd. This is not for teaching but as an educational diagnostician. It was much harder when I was looking for teaching jobs!

For this job, it was my only interview, but it was a school I hand-picked and didn't really NEED to leave my current school.

Prior to that, I went on two interviews for my previous job, and for my first teaching job, it was something like 4 or 5.
