How many copies do you get a month?

When I first came to my first school in 2004, we received 2,000 copies a month (1,000 on each of the two machines in our mail room...)

As of the 2012-2013 school year, we received 800 a month on one machine. I believe at my new school, I will have about the same-- or maybe it was 900. I teach at a K-8 school, though, so there are many more teachers there. I don't know how it will exactly work yet.

To get more copies a month, I print a LOT on my printer at home, but it can get expensive...

Unlimited. We get a case of paper each quarter... if that runs out, we have to buy our own. Oh, and no color copier.

We've never had a limit. Moving to a new school, with a new principal, it's hard to know. I don't tend to make a lot of copies, but with the limited resources of a new building, I'm hoping there isn't a limit.

No limit. Color or b&w. No "copy lady (or gentleman)" to turn copy requests into and wait on. We make 'em when we want 'em.

Also have printers in our classroom. No paper limit. We just walk in the storage room and take what we need. Toner is replenished throughout the year as needed.

No limit, although we often don't have white paper available ( but there are other colors). Color copies must be approved. Apparently a few teachers made a lot of color copies, so of course the principal made a blanket rule that all color copies would go through her; I make the few I need at home because I am an adult and can make these decisions without her input.

Unlimited but if the paper runs out we have to wait until someone gets more from the storeroom (usually the lazy office guy). I have seen some teachers hoard paper in their rooms! I only have 6 students so I don't need to make a TON of copies but I usually make a few extra because my students have been known to rip up their paper if they don't want to do their work.

We get a case of paper for the year. I've never calculated how many that is per month and I can tell you right now (and I'm not a worksheet teacher), but I always run out. Just with weekly newsletters and homework packets-it adds up.

I get 26,000 copies per school year, so I guess that works out to be about 2,600 copies per school month.

I never use them all up in a year and always leave a balance at the end.

Wish we had a color copier...but I'm grateful for what we have. :)

Unlimited. No copy man or lady, we make our own when we need them.

Each hallway has a printer too and we take the paper from the copy room. When we run out of paper as a school, it is usually replaced within a day or two. Ink toner gets replaced fairly quickly when needed. I usually keep a ream or two of paper in my room for when the school runs out, or our printer runs out since we are on the 3rd floor and often when you need copies printed, you don't have the time to run downstairs.

6 copies per student per day.
20 students? About 2,500 or so.
25 students? About 3,300 or so.

No limit. Thank goodness. It's enough paper and ink just to print out the originals of my worksheets or lesson plans or whatever at home. Can't imagine if I had to worry about making copies if I ran out.

I feel bad about wasting paper sometimes so anything that is unused goes in the "scrap paper" bin that kids can use for math or whatever else.

We do have a district "print center" where we can send in things to be copied. However, you really have to plan ahead, which I'm not very good with.

1500 per month with automatic cut-offs associated with our employee number. It means I can give out 10 pieces of paper to each student per month IF I don't have to make any personal copies. Considering all the graphic organizers, maps, etc... I run out every single month.

We don't have a limit, exactly, we just have to pay if we go over a certain amount, which is based on number of students and what class we teach. If we go over our limit, we are charged I think 2 cents a copy. We are only charged for copies on the copier, not the risogrqph, but we can only make sets of 50 or more on the riso, though I know people cheat all the time.

I know there's a yearly limit for each copy machine, and I routinely run out on the machine I use for IEPs. I don't run out on the machine I use for worksheets, newsletters, etc.

They're kind of the paper police around there....

We are limited to 300 copies per month on the teacher copier - that doesn't even cover my newsletter & homework packets. We can turn in items to be copied on the risograph (30+ per item) - teachers aren't trusted to use it - but we are encouraged to limit how much. We get one case of paper per year. We used to be able to get paper as needed, but someone started stealing, so now we have to ask (translation: beg) for a ream at a time. I am also not a worksheet teacher, but I purchase my own paper a LOT of the time, by the case, and print most of my stuff - either at home or in the classroom (on my OWN printer, since the school hasn't supplied me with any).

I'm just wondering how I'm going to follow the CCSS, when they require that students print out their written (typed) work, when I am not supplied with a student printer or the ink. I refuse to let students use the printers that I purchased out of my own pocket.

At my first school, there were teachers who would go into your room and steal your paper if you left the door unlocked!

My first two years we had 50 a month in he building yet could have unlimited at the copy center. They had to be sent out 2 weeks in advance which was crazy as a first year teacher. Now at my new school we get an limited amount. With little curriculum to use this means a lot of copies. I spend most Friday evenings at the copy machine. :(

WOW. I am SHOCKED. Pwhatley, sounds unfair. :( Along with the printing I do at home, I go through that easily in a week.

Now on a positive note, besides my home printer, next year will be the very first time I'll ever have a printer in my classroom. That is a treat all in itself.

We have no limit and our copies aren't counted. Sometimes in May we're told that the school is running low on paper and to use the paper sparingly, but we've never completely run out.

I'm just astounded by the number of copies y'all have! When I student taught, it was at a much larger school, suburban, with a huge, very active PTA, and we had many, many more copies than I do now, but even then the copies were limited.

Each teacher received 5 cases of paper for the past 2 school years. After that we had to supply our own. I imagine this year will be the same.

The only time I ran out was when sped teachers received 2 cases for the whole year. I had 20 students, each IEP was 10 or more pages, then progress reports 8 times a year per kid as well as associated progress monitoring documents, as well as interims, and then actually teaching :). I was out before January ended.

At my new school it is unlimited. Two awesome ladies make copies for you within a day. You can request different paper colors too. No option for color ink unless you nicely ask the office manager to make a single copy on her printer. :)

Reading others' answers reminds me of all the hurdles we deal with just to do our job. I wish legislative decision makers and voters would read this thread. 200 copies is pretty tough. Yikes.

10,000 for the year but if we run out they will give us 1,000 more. Although they will give you a hard time if you run out. We got a new copy machine last year so there was a lot of accidental printing so people ran out.

Wowza! I used to be annoyed when we only had 2,000 a month at the beginning of last year. My principal raised it to 4,000 a month after many complaints (teachers who team plan were copying for their whole grade for the subject they planned for, and ran out quickly). However, she can often be convinced to reset your copy limit if you run out for the month early and give her a good enough reason and puppy dog eyes.:D

We have unlimited both color and B&W.

For those of you that get cases to use until it runs out, every time you need a copy, do you take paper to the machine? Then take any unused back out? if yes...What a pain!

I print daily math problems and bind them in a folder. Would something like this count as your 200 copies even if you send it to the print center?

We don't have a print center, but if I were to request anything "daily" be printed (1) my P would probably refuse to allow it on the risograph on the grounds that it's too much paper & toner and (2) I'd run out of my 300 copies really quickly!

Yes, we have to take our paper with us each time, even though our copier is supposed to run better when fully stocked with paper.
