I teach in a 1:1 laptop school but was talking to someone the other day and am wondering how many computers are in the average classroom available to the students. Also how often do your kids get to use them?

Most classrooms in my school have 2 computers, but some only have one. The only students that use them regularly in my room are the ones who have it as part of their IEP/504 plans.

I have five - a computer at my desk, three student computers, and a laptop for my projector. I would say that each student uses the computers at least a couple times a week, if not more.

One I use and two new ones, still in the box. I can't even take them out to set them up myself which I'm fully capable to do. Our district has paid a tech to come in and do it. It might be sometime mid summer before he gets to me.

Securis, that is stupid, stupid, stupid. :(

I have my teacher workstation and that is all. I used to have two for students but they no longer work.

I have 1 laptop for the teacher and 10 laptops for students to use. Students use them as needed. I don't track how often a single student uses them, but they are used almost every day in every class.

Each classroom has one, for the use of the teacher.

The library has about a dozen that the kids can use during Study Halls.

Then, after school (when computer classes aren't using them) there are probably about 30 available in the computer lab. A teacher mans the room from 3-5 pm.

Just the teacher's computer. We have 40 in the library and another 40 (depending on what's working) in a computer lab that we can sign up for, and there are some in the computer ed classroom, of course. Oh, and there's a small classroom off the library that has a few.

I have 8. One at my desk for me. One laptop that I'm not really sure why they gave them to us. 2 older e-machines (one finally died :( ) 2 newer ones that are hooked up to the net (like my preschoolers really need to be surfing the web), and 2 really new ones that are loaded with our new Waterford Reading Program.

They get at least 15 mins each on the WRP or longer depending on who wants on a 2nd time. The other computers aren't really used anymore. (Well, I use the one on my desk and the laptop some.)

Preaching to the choir here. Within 15 minutes of those boxes rolling into my room on the dolly, I issued an email asking if I could. Within 30 minutes I received an email telling me I couldn't.

I should have just done it and asked for forgiveness.

I have a laptop that I hook up to my Smartboard.

I think the classroom used to have computers, but we only get old computers that no one wants anymore... it's just not worth it to try to do anything on them, so they were taken out of the classroom.

I have my teacher computer which is connected to the SMARTBoard and 4 student computers. We also have a bank of about 15 computers we access 1 hour a week. The students are able to use the classroom computers before school and at various times during the week (depending on what's happening in the room)

I have a laptop for me (that I sometimes let the kids use...) and 4 old student computers.

We pretty much only do AR quizzes and some research on the student computers. Earlier in the year the kids would type their poems and stories, but I have the computers no one else wanted in their rooms, so they freeze ALL THE TIME! It got to frustrating for my kids to type a sentence (which for many 2nd graders can take a while) and lose it all because the computer froze.

I have a desktop computer for me. In July, I was notified that I got a grant for a SMARTboard, 13 laptops, a printer, a whitebaord (I have chalkboards), a set of classroom clickers, and a document camera. So far, I have a printer in the box in the closet, and some electrical wires hanging from the ceiling. The bad things is that I bought curriculum for one of the classes for the computers that I can't use. Our tech told me in November that my laptops were here. I haven't seen any yet. The super comes by about once a week and when he comes in my room, I just tell him, "Nope, no computers yet." Maybe by August.

When our school opened in 1998, each classroom had two students computers. Some of us had a computer from the old building.

We also had two 30 computer labs and 4 in the library besides the two for the librarian.

As they've "died", we've gotten to different numbers. All of the SmartClassrooms have a computer to run the board. We also have to have a teacher workstation. Some have a student computer or two as well. It varies by what we teach.

I have a SmartBoard computer and two student computers. I use my SmartBoard computer as my teacher workstation. We're not supposed to do that, and they tech guy fusses about it every time he's in my room.

I have one teacher desktop I am not allowed to let students use because of the gradebook program and school management software, and one 6 year old ProStar portable that still chugs along that I use with my 10 year old projector.

I am supposed to be getting about 20K worth of Smart Board, Airliner, laptop, etc.

Nothing, of course, for the students to actually be able to use.

In my classroom, there are four computers for the students to use, and my laptop, so five total.

They use them on a daily basis for AR and I-Station.

I have 35 computers: 33 at stations for students to use. Two are teacher computers. One is on a cart for the projector, one is on my desk for grades, etc.

In our k-5 school we have three laptop carts. Each cart has enough laptops for one classroom. We can sign them out when we need them. We are suppose to be getting one more cart. This will give each wing a cart.

Grades 8th to 12th all have their own laptops. I'm not sure about 7th or 8th grade.

We have 2 computers in the classroom. One is broken, and the other is on its way to crashing. I hope it lasts through the end of the year.

Our school has a lab with 30 or so computers, several of which are broken. I feel extra sorry for the middle school grades as those classes often have 30-40 students.

I had 0. But just a couple days ago we got our laptop carts so I now have one for each student. Not sure how I will use them. They have no headphones, so anything with sound is pretty much out. Our state is going to be 100% online state testing next year so we pretty much have to have laptops. It's going to be crazy next year!

I have two student computers (that look older than I am) and one teacher computer. I actually just got a new computer in the middle of the year. The kids mostly just use the computers for AR testing.

1 teacher station that controls the ActivBoard, ect.
2 brand new student stations in the classroom
Students go to computer lab with the computer para once every other week (so approx 30) computers up there.
We also have a lab downstairs that we can sign up for once a week with 30 stations.
I would love a 1:1 classroom. Oh if only :)

I have my own laptop that goes back and forth with me.

We have 16 laptops that we can schedule for our students to use in the computer lab or bring them into our classroom. I usually take my students to the lab at least once a week during our math period. In addition, all K-5 classes have a 45 minute computer class once a week with a specialist teacher. Our 6-8 grades use them as the teachers see fit.

I would consider selling a body part to get a Smartboard.

Our class has five desktops. To my knowlegde, there's no laptops in our school. We have a computer lab, which our class never uses. From looking around different classrooms, the norm seems to be 4-6 computers per room. Some teachers have one, in addition to the 4-6 they have, on their desk. Honestly, thought, through out the building, it's not unusual for computers to not work. When they do work, the internet is down which makes it hard for us to use the program we need. All this factored in we use the computers about once or twice a week for 45 minutes.
