When do you go back?? We get 6 weeks and the kids get 7 weeks... Teachers have to report back on 7/21!! I can't believe how busy I've been and how fast the weeks are going by...Yikes!!
Wow that seems really short My last day was May 27th and we go back on August 17th. We (students and teachers) all back back together - no teacher PAID work day before the first day of school. I work a lot in my room during the summer. I usually give myself the entire month of June off and then dive into getting ready for next year after the 4th.
We're on a modified year round schedule..We get two weeks off after each quarter and then six weeks off during the summer...It's a nice schedule!!
We got out June 3. New Teacher Orientation is Aug 11-14, teachers come back Aug 17, and students come back Aug 25.
Our kids were done on June 4th and I had teacher work days until June 11th. Teachers go back on August 26th and the kids return September 2nd (Wednesday before Labor Day). About 2 1/2 months for me...not bad
Students were done on June 5th, Teachers were done June 12th. Teachers report Aug 10th and Studetns report Aug 17th. I moved classrooms so I have already been in my classroom for several days just unpacking boxes. Now I will work on curriculum.
Students finished up May 29th. I was done June 2nd. I am moving to a new school so I had to pack EVERYTHING (textbooks, personal items, everything...) and I won't be able to get into my new school (still under construction) until the middle of July. Preplanning starts July 24th. Open house July 28th. Students return August 3. We are on a modified schedule also and have weeks off in October, November, December (2 weeks), February, and April.
This year our district finished up on the 18th. We are starting kind of late for the next school year -- kids start on the 10th of September, I think. Which means that the first official day for teachers is the 8th or 9th... I think it is the 9th. Normally it is a week or two earlier, but "they" follow a formula for determining when school starts. School starts the Thursday after Labor day, and Labor Day is later this year. It's kind of silly.
We finished up on June 12, though I went in the following week to work in my room. We're back on August 27. I wish we would change our schedule to start earlier and finish the first semester before winter break, because as it is we come back for 2 weeks and then have finals.
We got out on June 12 and I'll go back the week of August 24. Student will be back on September 1 for Orientation and we start full day classes on September 2.
I'm on year round. I get a month off after every trimester. For the summer I've been off since May 30th and go back July 15th for preservice because I'm D track. School doesn't officially get out until this Friday for the other tracks tho, so they only get 3 weeks!
teachroo, I would love the opportunity to try that schedule. I get so burned out by Feb/March. We got out June4th (teachers June5th). I am going to a new school and so I'll have to go through new teacher training (YAY!)- did you notice sarcasam? So, i will have to go back Aug.5th and go all the way through when the kids start on Aug.24th. Plus, i have to go get my room ready before new teacher training starts, so I will do that the last week of July.
Kids got out 6/10, teachers got out on 6/12. Teachers return on 8/18. Kids return on 8/24 or 25, whichever is a Monday.
The last day for students was June 10th. We only had June 11th as a workday. The other one was cut. We go back on August 18th and the students come back on August 25th.
The kids were supposed to be out May 22, but due to snow days it was June 5 before they got out. We also had to go extended days. The last day for teachers was June 11. Open House is July 30, and kids come back on August 6.
Not enough! JK We (Teachers) got out June 11 and go back August 18th. Students are back on August 25th.
We finish on Friday (the kids just have a half day on Thursday), then back on the Tuesday after Labour Day. 10 weeks of summer this year.
Wow! Everyone is talking about when to go back and I'm still in school with my students until tomorrow! Teachers last day is Friday June 26th. I have the entire months of July and August off With the weather my area has had in June (almost rain everyday and as I type this it is raining again. I go back Sept. 2nd and then off for Labor Day weekend.
Same except I got out on the 4th. It doesn't seem long enough with so much I am still doing during the summer!
We are always out the Thursday before Memorial Day and always return the Tuesday after Labor Day. So we have the entire June, July, and August off yearly plus a few days in May and September.
Wow! How many days long is your school year? By provincial regulation, we must have 194 instructional days.
Our last exam was June 9. We always have faculty meetings the Tuesday before Labor Day, followed by 3 days of Freshman Orientation. This is the longest summer I can remember!!
The kids got out on 6/11, teachers' last day was 6/12. Teachers go back 8/27, kids start on 8/31. Next June we'll get out a little later since we are now going to get the week off for Thanksgiving instead of the two days.
We have 180 days. The law also says that school can't start before August 25th or get out after June 10th-so we're kinda stuck with what days we have for now.
