70 miles am I the only one???
I just got notification of the city in which I will be living in the UAE (United Arab Emirates). I will be in Al Ain, in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. So while I will live there, my school region is 60 miles away in the middle of the desert. It will take me an hour to get there. I sure hope there are no sand storms for the next two years because I can drive in the snow but not so sure about the sand!!
10 minutes..about 5 miles away..I was very lucky.
I'm very lucky...7 minutes if I hit the lights wrong.
I had been commuting about 45 minutes to an hour, but last year moved about 10 minutes away. I love my commute now
ME?? 12 minutes if I make the lights
But some of the people in my school have over an hour's commute-- if there's no snow. Some of them have been know to take 2+ hours to get home in a snowstorm.
14 miles. 45-60 minutes depending on the wind speed and direction.
Mine is 35 miles one way, so I'm with you at 70 miles round trip. It's all highway, though, so it takes about 40 minutes.
30 miles, takes about 40 minutes.
7 miles, no lights, 2 stops. Nothing but cows, horses, and whatever crops are in the fields! I spend more time carrying things to/from my vehicle at home and school than driving.
We just bought a house that's 5-7 minutes away from school, depending on the lights. I can't wait! For the past four years I've been doing 15-30 minutes one way, depending on lights and traffic. It's not as much as some folks here, but it's definitely time that I'd rather spend with my family than by myself in the car!
50 minutes, one way. It's all highway driving, though - no lights or other traffic, really.
Between 15 and 20 minutes. I don't mind it. It's the only time I don't have kids either at home or at school!

20 miles... 30-40 minutes, depending on who I get stuck behind on the commute... 2 lane road most of the way!
Between 20-25 minutes. Before I moved it was 45 minutes.
My commute is usually around 25-30 minutes. It's 20 minutes on good day - add 1-2 hours once snow season hits.
I have a job 2.5 hours away! I currently rent an appartment there and commute back on the weekend.
Now, the appt. I rent is a 3 minute drive from the school....
About three minutes if I do okay with lights and construction....even better..NO turns! There's a small road in front of my apartment, I take that out to the light, turn, and then the next turn is the parking lot.
I'm rather fond of it. I just wish the bridge over the highway wasn't under construction all summer. It would have been nice to take my bike to work.
At the school I am starting at it's maybe 10 minutes depending on lights? I don't know where my actual classroom will be so this may change?
It's 10 miles and it's 15 minutes. Last year before I moved, it was 50 miles and an hour drive.
I drive between 25 and 30 minutes depending on traffic, construction and traffic lights. It's not bad, and I listen to audio books during that time; sometimes it goes too fast!
My commute is about 5 minutes from my drive way to my parking spot at school . . . one stop sign is all I face
Mine is about a 5 minute bike ride, which entails going through a cemetary
I am about 45 miles away from my school and it takes 25-30 minutes because it is all highway and against the traffic. My old job was about 30 miles away but it was with the traffic and could take anywhere from 45-60 minutes to drive.
My commute is 15 to 20 minutes.
now that I have did it
the trip is 143 miles round trip
about 1.5 without traffic.

My commute is between 50-60 minutes each way, I am hoping to move closer in the upcoming months!
10-12 minute commute... several lights to go through but as long as I leave 6:53a-6:57a I get there in perfect timing. I love the commute! Crazy the difference a few minutes make in the morning.
My commute is about 15-20 minutes.
You do what you have to...if a 70 mile commute is one you have to make, make the best of it. Check some books on CD out of the library, find some great radio stations (I'm a talk radio fan)...buy yourself a cute commuter mug and fill each day with your favorite beverage for the commute. Drive safely!

Just got a position, my commute will be about 1 hour and 10 min. Gotta go where the jobs are!
30 miles one way. 60 miles roundtip. It takes me about 30-45 minutes to get here, but I live it the middle of nowhere so its all country roads and theres no cops so I am a speed demon Im hoping to move closer next year if I get to keep my job. I told my boyfriend who also is a teacher it is unfair he can have a 5 minute commute and then still trying to make me drive places after I get home
Yay, on a job! What will you be teaching?

Sorry, I haven't been on since to reply. I've got a 0.9 teaching the English part of two French Immersion classes, so I'll have a 5/6 and a 6/7 for Math, English and Science. Judging from my experiences and conversation of the last couple of days (PD days to get ready) I think things will be extremely good. The only thing so far that will suck is the commute. I've never gone quite that far from home and moving is not an option, but I am looking forward to it.
I've done some English for French Immersion (we're a dual track school); if you need someone to bounce ideas off of, ask away.
This will be a nice change from Core French!
Definitely! I think my core French days are over. I'm high enough on seniority now not to have to settle. I think this will be my last year being surplus...hopefully. It's been six years afterall!

30 miles one way, but I get to take this wonderful tollway here in the area, so it only takes about 40 minutes.
35 minutes in the morning, 45 in the afternoon. It takes longer to get home due to the traffic by the school. When I get there in the morning I'm early so no school traffic yet. I leave at the earliest time I'm allowed so that I can just make it home to my daughter getting off the bus so waiting for my school traffic to thin out isn't an option.
I have two coworkers in my department who have over an hours drive.

25-30 minutes for me..longer once snow hits..but I don't complain..I know one of the teachers at my school has over a hour commute..

10 miles and it takes about 25 minutes....even 30 with traffic.
