At my new school, we only have 25 minutes of specials time. We have library two times a week, music two times and counselor time once a week.

My last school had 40 minutes.

What is an average time? What do you have?

    35 minutes specials
    35 minutes lunch

The district minimum is 30 minutes each. I think we used to have 40 and it was cut down to 35. We have prep every day though, and we don't have any duties like recess or lunch. So that's super nice!

We have art, computers, music, library, and PE. Our librarian is only part time, so the first semester we took our own kids to library at a different time.

Our Specials are on a 6 day rotation. They include music, math, art, PE (they get this twice) and Computers (SuccessMakers lab). They are each 45 minutes. Teacher choose their own time to go to Library.

    45 minutes a day.

1st and 3rd nine weeks: MW: Art TTH: PE Every other Friday switches between Art/PE

2nd and 4th nine weeks: MW: Music TTH: PE Every other Friday switches between Music/PE

We go to Library once a week for 30 minutes, but we stay with our class during this time, its not considered a "special", because it doesn't take place during our conference time.

Each class also signs up for a computer lab time once a week for 45 minutes. We are responsible for taking our own class to the lab.

    30 minutes PE 2X, Music 2X, 45 minutes Art 1X
Florida has now passed a law which states that beginning next year we have to have 30 minutes PE 5X per week. I think that is great for the children, but it will be tough to fit it in a 5 hour day which already includes required 90 min reading, 90 minutes math, 30 minutes lunch, 30 minutes SucessMaker, plus science, social studies, writing, etc.
Which brings me to a new question?...How long is your school day and what are you requred to teach?

PE each day for 45 minutes.
Computer 45 minutes once a week.
Music 45 minutes once a week.

Counseling and Library 45 minutes once a week, but teachers must stay with their classes during these periods.

Wow, 25 mins seems like you just drop the kids off, and you have to pick them up already.

45 min... is the usual for specials

We have 50 minutes a day of prep guaranteed by our contract.

At my school, this is a rotation of music, art, gym and drama (we are a creative arts magnet).

Library and dance are once a week for 30 minutes but are not prep. The classroom teacher stays with the class, since they are not taught by licensed teachers.

    All are once a week:
    Library - 1 hour
Gym, Music and Art - 50 Minutes
    Every other week:
Counseling and Study Skills (lesson with reading teacher) 30 minutes each

I take them in the computer lab once a week for 45 minutes but that
I do on my own, we are not required to go there.

25 minutes is DEFINITELY not long enough. That 25 minutes, plus a 15 minute recess equals our 40 minute plan time. I can barely run to the bathroom and make a few copies during that time. The specialist don't like it either because they really can't get anything done.
This is my first year and I guess they just got this contract and aren't due for another one in a bit.

My day starts at 8:20 with the students starting at 8:50. School lets out at 3:20 and I'm supposed to stay for an additional 30 minutes.
I only know a handful of people who can acutally leave after only 30 minutes and those that do, spend hours on the weekend.

Our school counselor comes in and talks about bullying, self esteem, how to interupt a grown-up, "I feel...when you..." etc.
We have monthly attributes like teamwork, helping others succeed, responsibility.... and he goes over those too.

I'm required to teach reading, math, social studies, science, PE and art. HOWEVER, in the last contract it was stated that the district shall provide curriculum for all required subjects and I've yet to see a p.e., art, or social studies curriculum.

    8:20-3:50 are my required hours.

We have four class periods per week of both PE and music for 25 min each. Our lunch and recess time consists of 40 minutes total. We have art instruction every other week for 50 min. Our counseling time is questionable... I believe we were to have the counselor in at least one time per month for 30minutes BUT ,in reality, it ended up being closer to 4 times tops!

    We have:
    Art
    PE
    computers
    music

All for 37.5 minutes per day. We have library on the other day but we have to stay with the kids...not a specialist unless we are overloaded (currently 3rd grade is). First grade has library as a specialist but misses one of the others.

This year we started out getting 60 minutes except for the two counseling sessions which are 30 minutes each. It got cut to 45 minutes around mid year.
    My green week schedule was:
PE, PE, Counselor 1, PE and Media
    My yellow week schedule was:
Paraprofessional (we weren't scheduled for anything), Counselor 2, Computer, Music, Art
We also had to eat with our kids this year (which sucked) even though it is only a 25 minute lunch

Art 40 minutes every other week
Music 30 minutes every other week
    Gym 30 minutes each week
Library 25 minutes each week (next year, we will have to go to library with our students!!)

    The older grades:

    Art 50 minutes every week
    Music 50 minutes every week
    Gym 50 minutes every week
Library 15 minutes every week (teacher must supervise)
Computers 50 minutes every week (we teach this class, so no break here)

At my school they have each special once a week with exception of Science, which is twice a week.

    Art - 1 hour
    Music - 1 hour
    P.E. - 1 hour
    Science - 1 hour
    Computers - 40 minutes

    PE, Music = 3x/week - 30 minutes.

LRC = 1x/week - ~25 minutes. They get a mini-lesson, then check out books. We stay with the students.

    Art = 1x/week - 1 hour.

Computers = only when we take them to the lab ourselves.
