I am using "How is your engine" with my developmental preschool class. The students seem to understand it fine and will go up and move the magnet to the area where they are at. "High, just right, low." It has words. I am advised to make this more student friendly using "Tiger (high), Pooh (just right), and Eeyore (too low)." I'm not really a fan of this image system. I have a student who is very low, but I see Eeyore more as depressed and low self-esteem.
Does anyone have suggestions of cartoon characters that student may be familiar with other than Tiger, Pooh, Eeyore?

Do they have to be cartoon characters?

What if you use heights of animals for this? Try to find equally cute and positive images, such as giraffe (high), bear (just right) and a cat (too low) or something like that.

That is an interesting idea. Thank you.
