We're having a heat wave in the NW! Temps are in the upper 90's all week and many people just ride it out in public places, etc. Most people around here don't have a/c so it's a big deal to us! We got a portable a/c last summer but it wasn't doing much in the hot living room yesterday even though it was running all day. It works better when it's 80something outside. :)

    Outside temp. is 99. :woot:
Inside the living room: 87

We moved the a/c to our computer room so I'm hunkered down here today while I'm home. This reminds me of being in a dorm in college but at least my dog and I are comfortable in here and just make quick runs to the kitchen, etc and back

He's sleeping in his crate to take a break from the heat.

outside - 85 and getting ready to really storm

    inside - 72

We really haven't had a summer at all. We have only had about 4 days of 90 degree weather.

    82 outside.

Inside? Well we have problems with the screens so the windows need to stay shut...and the price of a/c? I only turn the ac on in the evening... so inside is often hotter than outside.

(Plus...I have converted my small walk-in closet into a tiny computer office. I have so few clothes-certainly NOT a clothes horse. But I sit in the closet and work on the computer. The heat of the computer makes the place sweltering. I have a huge fan blowing cool air into the closet...but still the closet is a good 10 degrees hotter than the bedroom...which is much warmer than the downstairs.

    Cool summer...and I'm still sweatin'

I'm dripping as I read this. We can't open our windows due a to a neighbor who likes to smoke on the patio next to us-it's like living in an ashtray when we do risk it.

    Sigh. I'm SWELTERING.

I feel your pain. Here on the shores of lovely Galveston Bay, it feels like we are living on the surface of the sun. Some days I really question my ancestors' decision to move to Texas from Middle Tennessee.

Right now it's around 87-88. I think this has been the hottest day of the summer so far. Our summer has been rainy and cold so far; hopefully August brings the summer weather!

Ugh, I know what you mean. We have downstair neighbors who like to smoke every now and then and I immediately close the windows when I catch a sniff of smoke. Yuck! (Sorry no offense if you happen to smoke) I like clean lungs!

Here in Austin, TX, at 7 pm - 100F with a little humidity. The highs will be around 105F all week long with no rain in sight. We haven't had rain in weeks and weeks...serious drought.

We are having the coolest July on record in over 60 years!
Our avg high is 86 but I don't think we have felt 80 all month.
Besides swimming, it's kind of nice for golfing, gardening, walks, parks, etc.

I am sure a major heat wave will hit my classroom with no AC Sept. 8th. :woot:

It's been in the low 80's for about 5 days now. That's the hottest we've been all summer. Right now it's 80. I have the air on all the time in the summer due to kids with severe summer allergies---headache, sneezing, fatigue. They go outdoors--no problem, but they like knowing that it's comfortable and cool in their home.

Right now at 5:45 in Nevada, the elementary school down the street from me (weatherbug) is registering 112 degrees. I like the heat but this time of year is a little much for even me. I suck it up for July and August so that I can enjoy the milder temperatures for the rest of the year. I came from Chicago and I will swelter for 3 months to not have to see snow anymore (although we did just have a snow day here in December! :dizzy:)

So, it's a mega heat wave here in Oregon - unbelievably hot right now. We hit 106 here in my town - thank goodness for water play at camp - my co-teacher and i were right in there with the kids today! It's supposed to hit 103 tomorrow as well. We have 2 thermometers on the playground - neither in the direct sun - one hit 120 today and the other read 113! Not quite accurate, but still TOO hot! I live in Oregon for a reason - NO HOT WEATHER! LOL :)

We were returning from San Diego yesterday and stopped in Yuma, Az. It was 114....UGH!!!!!! I lived 52 years in the Phoenix area with summer temps reaching 115 - 122 degrees.
I would hibernate in the summer and not leave the cool apartment unless I had to. For the last two years, I've lived in Eastern AZ. Our high temps have been in the low 90's and my house has a/c but my brother's has no cooling. It does cool off in the evenings to the 60's. I am so glad to be out of the heat!!

thermometer reading 74 here in NW Alabama. Its been raining all day and will prob. rain for the next couple of days. At least it keeps down the pollen but it will get a little humid during the day. We have definately not had as hot of a summer as we did last year.

Today about 70, tomorrow same thing. But then it should slowly creep back up to the 80's and 90's. I love colder, cloudy, fall weather so its been a blessing the past few days!

I am with Jennifer in Oregon --107 and not cooling much during the night. No one is on the roads, and any place cool does a great business. My daughter works in a department store, and she said the place was hopping. Lots of people looking for a/c and pool stuff--and just wanting a place to cool off.

My house is wonderfully a/c. It is 9:00 at night and still in the 90's. Oregonians are not used to heat. We like the rain.

Right now at 9:45 pm... that's PM it's still 88 outside!!!! It was registering 106 on my car thermometer today at 4 pm. It's supposed to be hotter still tomorrow!!

Oh, and I got my hair permed today and was told not to put shampoo on it for 2 days!!!!! Ewwwww---hot and sweaty and no shampoo!!!!

I think I'll be staying inside in our AC house!!! Not many people here have A/C. Actually, it's pretty rare for anyone to have it!!!

112 today in Vegas. Excessive heat warnings issued. It was 111 yesterday. It is supposed to cool off to 104-106 for the rest of the week if we can believe the weather forecasters. AND we are still in school until Aug. 7th.
