I know this has been done before but I am sure that it has changed.

I will be driving about 30 miles each way this next school year. It will be a big change for me and my old school was literally around the corner from my house. But the pay is double.... so it is still worth it.

A little less than a mile. First time I've ever lived this close to my job before!

16 miles to and from (32 miles a day). Takes about 20 minutes in morning hours and 40 mins on the way home.

We say time in California too! My commute is 35 miles and I believe it will take about as many minutes -- it is a straight shot up the highway and a reverse commute (against the traffic). I have never had such a long commute before but it was a great opportunity so I went for it. I plan to listen to audiobooks in the car as much as possible!

30 minutes each way through city and farmlands. Longer if I hit lights or get stuck behind a tractor or combine. :)

19 rural highway miles, and so with morning school traffic, about 25 minutes each way.

I'm moving 0.4 miles from my school but I don't know how long it will take other than it's sure to be less than five minutes.

My longest commute was 105 mile round trip. It was an hour and ten minutes each way.

My current commute seems to take, on average, about 45 minutes either way, though it depends on traffic. It's a little over 12 miles, apparently. I'm hoping to move a bit closer: 6-7 miles away for a commute of 15-25 minutes each way.

12 to 20 minutes depending on traffic and road construction.
It is a pretty straight shot down one road, which has been under construction (in various spots) for a year!

Mine is 45 minutes each way. Sounds bad, but I enjoy it so far (i've only been there a year). It's great time in the morning to get all psyched up for the day and great for the afternoon to clear my mind before walking in the door.

When I was teaching college English, my commute was an hour and a half each way, so this seems quick, ha ha.

12 minutes- mostly stop lights. About 6 miles.
(Way better than my 25 mile, 35-45 minute commute I had last year!!)

20 minutes according to the GPS. I haven't actually done it yet in morning and afternoon traffic so I'll see about that. It's about 9 miles.

This is definitely true in CA too, especially in high traffic areas like the bay area and SoCal where 5 miles can take 30+ minutes.

My commute is 20 miles and about 20-25 minutes. It's ideal for me. It's far enough that I have some time to mentally prepare in the morning and decompress in the afternoon. It's also far enough that school and home are kept separated, which I like for now. It's close enough that it doesn't feel like a huge chore to get there. I'm weird in that I actually like driving if there's no traffic, so I would hate a 5 minute commute.

A good 30 min, 1-way...could be up to 40 min due to traffic, but hopefully not.

Looks like we have a lot of different commute times on here. I did like being close to work but am not really worried about doing the commute. It will give me time to unwind from the day at school etc.

The only thing that I am worried about is that my car is not very new and I get worried that it won't last too much longer. I am not in the position to buy a new car at the moment either. I would be perfectly fine just having one car for my wife and I if we worked closer to each other.

7 Minutes. I was a little worried I would feel to "tied to school," being so close, but I find that's not the case. Today, I was working in my room on my own time, and it was nice to run home for lunch and some things I forgot. I want to move apartments in Dec, and I will probably stick close by school, again.

I second this above - I like to go out from time to time, and would prefer to keep my personal life separate and private as much as I can from work. My commute is about 25 minutes/15 miles, live downtown and work in a suburb - reverse traffic so usually a low stress drive:)

5-7 minute drive for me. I'm not a morning person, so this is wonderful! It's a rural area, so even if I lived further away from the school, I would still run into students at the local Wal-Mart, restaurants, etc.

5ish minutes. My previous commute was about 30 mins. I wouldn't want to do much longer than that, and I don't own a house or anything so I'd move for the right job.

Not sure of the miles, but on a good day i can get to work in 8 to 10 minutes. On a rare bad traffic day it takes me about 30.

40 miles each way. It usually takes me 45-50 minutes each time. I take back roads instead of highway to avoid rush hour traffic. (and I have to stop for an occasional school bus:whistle:)

This year I'm expecting about 30 minutes with traffic. There was NO traffic when I went to my orientation, but I'm sure it will be different once all of the schools are in session. This will be the longest commute I've done, but I'm really happy with where I'm living so I think it will even out.

In the mornings because I drop my daughter off it takes about 7 minutes to get to work. I live exactly one mile from my school and her school is actually right smack dab in he middle of the "drive" In the afternoon one of my friends brings her to my school for me.

45-60 minutes. When I stay at work late and have to commute during peak times it can take an hour and a half. So I try to either leave asap or plan to stay several hours if I do.

9 minutes if I hit all the lights wrong--about 5 if I hit all green (almost never happens). My new school is about half a kilometre from my previous one, so I guess I'll need to add another 30-45 seconds.

Many from varied states have weighed in with times. When one rolls out of bed, the first thought isn't 'I have 5,8,12,24 miles to drive'...one just knows how long it takes to get ready, out the door and to school.:2cents:
Now if you want to talk GSP exits, I'm with ya. 168.
