I drive about half an hour (30 or so miles) but next year I may have to drive close to an hour each way if I get a job in the big city closest to me.

My school is lesson than 5 minutes away from my house. I love it!

I used to live about 15-25 minutes away from the school, depending on traffic. Still not a bad drive. I don't think I could drive more than about 45 minutes one way unless I had absolutely zero other options.

That must be great to live so close!!! I don't want to drive far but I will if i have to. If it means having my own classroom.

When I subbed, I kept my school range from going beyond a half hour commute in good traffic. Otherwise I didn't think it was worth the gas money. Now, the point is moot.

I drive 13 miles every other day. The other days I drive 4 blocks.
So I guess I average about 14 miles total a day

BUT..... I drove 50-60 miles each day for 30 years (except for my carpool time) I finally moved when gas went over $4 a gal.

9 minutes if I hit every red light; 5 if I hit all green.

Google maps says it's 3.4 miles and 10 minutes. It's only 10 minutes if you catch every light. I usually make it in seven.

I am less than 5 miles from school - about 9 minutes. I used to drive over 30 minutes(interstate driving) to school and really hated it. I have 4 miles country roads and about 6 blocks in town to get to school.

14 miles and 50 minutes each way.

12.3 miles and 43 minutes if I take a shortcut.

I once made it in 39 minutes with a tailwind.

Today it took me almost an hour because I stopped on a bridge to look at a ship.

I used to live right next to the school (in a free house, nonetheless) until I got married and moved about 15 miles away. It's still not a bad commute!

I am only 13 miles away, but work in Hollywood so with traffic in the AM it can take up to 45 minutes :(

I live 30 miles away from my school, but I chose that. I wanted to live in a rural community. I am used to the drive now, and gas and car maintenance was budgeted in when we bought the house. Each day, I feel like I am going to my own private retreat. :)

I'm a 45-minute drive away from my current school. Next year I could end up even farther away than that, but I hope not...

One mile to school and one mile back. Last year my commute to school was a little longer because I had to take my son to the middle school. This year he walks to the high school.

Less than 10 minutes to drive to school but about 15 to get home with the increased traffic.

Depending on traffic, 8-15 minutes one way. I would not want to live more than 25 minutes from work, if I did, I would want to move.

I travel four miles of rural road to my school. I rarely get through one song on the radio before I'm home.

They're building a new, less curvy road that should open in a few months. I'm interested to see if it makes my commute longer, or if the lack of curves will make it about the same or even less.

I spent the first half of my career with a whopping one-mile commute. Then we moved to a new school and it became two miles. I bought a house across town, which is how I have my whopping four miles.

looks like most of you guys live pretty close to the school. If I get a job teaching at the school i work at as an aide now, it will only be a 5 minute drive for me too. I think it would be lovely to ride my bike until it gets too cold!!

If all goes well in today's new employee orientation and signing of the contract, then I will start commuting 30 min. one way to work. Right now, my furthest job (tutor) is 20 minutes away and my closest one (homeschool) is down the street.
