Me, 677 miles or about 13 hrs.
About 40 minute drive to where I grew up. For the first 6 years of my teaching career I lived about 13 hours away. Then I moved back to the town that I grew up in and stayed there for the first 8 years of my son's life (I adopted him as a single parent and my parent's support was so helpful and amazing in those years) and now I've been 40 minutes away for the past 4 years. This is the right balance for now.
Just over an hour away now, but for years it was far away as we moved around with my husband's Air Force career.
400 miles, or an 8-9 hour drive.
About an hr away in a neighboring county.
I live exactly 3 miles from where I grew up. I wish we lived farther some days, but it is a different city so we still do our own thing without walking down the road and running into everyone.
Never thought about it before so I looked it up - about 1,570 miles
Within a 10 min drive.
1342 miles actual distance, a lifetime actual experience.
1 hour 30 minutes
within 30 minutes
3.5 hours. I would absolutely love to move back though.
Two and a half hours
Within 20 minutes. I would love to move away though. I'm itching to start exploring.
Up until last year it was 90 minutes. Now it is 2.5 - 3 hours. Still not bad, but before if something happened or if there was a special dinner or something, I could run down after work if I needed or wanted to. I can't do that anymore.
700 miles (I think it is acutally 696 or something close).
I have done it in 10.5 hours. It is usually 11-11.5. It depends on weather and Detroit traffic.
About 3 blocks.
For the first 17 years of our marriage though we lived anywhere from 3 hours to way across country to the west coast from where I live now. DH was in the military so we lived north, south, east and west!! Funny that we ended up 3 blocks from my parents- it's a blessing.
Until a year ago, less than 5 minutes from my parents home.
Now, I'm 2000 miles away. Well, according to googlemaps, it's 2043 miles, doorstep to doorstep.
About 1200 miles.
Between 8-10 minutes from my house to my old abode... as long as road construction doesn't completely raise havoc with my route.
Within about 20 minutes for me... depending on the traffic.
about 1400 miles. A 2 day drive. About 20 hours away.
423.54 miles (according to mapquest 7 hours 5 minutes)
I have made it anywhere from 6 hours flat to 12 hours depending on traffic and everything.
There's really nothing to go back for since my parents have passed away.
I just used MSN maps to be accurate - 8.5 miles. Obviously fewer the way the bird flies.
This week I live 10 miles from where I grew up!
Next week I will live 250 miles from where I grew up!
I felt I needed to try getting away from my comfort zone! I student taught and taught at two of my high school alumni rivals!!! Everything I have done in career has been within 15 miles of where I grew up! Time to try something new!
About 35 minutes. I'm a traitor and teach at one of my high school's rivals
PS: I think it's very telling of parts of the country on whether you list distance by miles or by time. In Iowa, we use time
I'm in South Florida by way of Boston... So... too far for my comfort! I miss my family.
That's about the same for me -- maybe a little less.
See...there's the problem. I do by best to help control the exploding population by moving out (I was born in Coral Gables), and you go take my place.
I recently moved back to living just 50 miles from where I grew up. Before that, I lived 1,600 miles away, and then another place that was 963 miles from where I grew up, and 1,364 miles from the place where I had moved to in the first place.
I'm a navy brat-so I really don't have a specific place where I grew up. But i've lived all over this state since I was 7, so about 50-70 miles depending on what location.
For me, it's a 20 minute drive.
Mom sold the house I grew up in a week ago.
All 5 of us still live on Long Island-- the furthest any of us are from any of the others is under an hour's drive.
I can relate!
From one parent's house, where I lived when I was 8-11 and 13-16: 2,446 miles
From the other parent's house, where I lived when I was 3-8 and 11-13 and 16-17: 780 miles
6 miles, about 10 minutes...haha.
Too far...about 1500 miles (give or take a few)
Home is where the Marine Corps sends you...
I'm three miles from the house where I grew up. My parents bought the house a year before I was born, and my mom still lives there.
I moved away from home at 17, and I moved back after college to take a job with the school district. I have been here ever since.
About as far as is possible...from the Jersey shore to SoCal, over 2800 miles.
My kids made the same comment...from about as far as you can get to the tip of the S. FL mainland, to a few hours away from the Canadian border . Still "only" 2000 miles though.
