    I'm posting this in the secondary ed board because the kids typically start earlier. I woke up this morning around 6 am and there's kids out at the bus stop! Sheesh!

    When I was in HS my bus picked me up at 7:05, and I thought that was early!

    I never had a bus. I've walked/driven to school my whole life!

    Most of our kids take public transit. We have a first period that starts before school at 7:15 (mostly chorus, orchestra and gym). I frequently see from the computer swipe-in attendance that some kids get to school before I'm out of bed - 6:30, 6:45. I don't have to be there until 8.

    :eek::eek:

    My middle school son will be picked up 7:30. The middle school I worked at before my current school had first pick up at 6:15 with homeroom at 7:20.

    My current school drops off kids at the school starting at 7:10 and I think first pick up is around 6:30 but it might be later.

    That is criminal. What time do these poor kids get dropped off in the afternoon? I'm assuming that is at least a 2 hour bus ride; hopefully school doesn't start before 7:15 in swansong's case. If school is out at 3, plus another 2 hour ride, that is a 12 hour day--for a five year old? No way. As a parent, I would have to draw the line.

    They are the farthest house out in the county, and the road is kind of scary, too. The child also has to switch busses once each direction.

    Our busses drop off the first load of kids and pick up the pre-k/k kids around 7:40. I have my first class of kids at 7:50 (middle school).
