It is just beginning to feel like summer and last night I woke up a few times from being too warm.....we dont have ac for the whole house so the bedroom is in the 70s even with a fan...Im used to upper 60s to sleep...
Anyways what do you do to stay cool besides less bedding/lighter clothes...anything else?

I don't have AC either. I leave my windows open at night. If it's really warm, I'll put two fans on either side of my bed so there is a cross breeze. I put them on chairs (they're the small floor fans) so that they're just even with where I sleep.

I sleep with one leg out from under the covers. It seriously cools me off, even if it's weird.

Also, don't sleep with a shirt on. Shirts are surprisingly warm. Go topless. It's probably good that there's not an emoticon for that, but I admit that I'd use it if there were.

We are usually in the 80s here at night!!! UGH>>>> I have air, but with a 550 dollar electric bill- we are keeping it turned down!!! I have been known to jump in the pool at night!!Maybe you could jump in the shower? I also put a frozen gel pack under my pillow. When I get hot I turn my pillow over and have instant coolness!!

Ugh... I have AC and a fan and it still can feel warm (feels like upper 80's even at 2am here in South Carolina). This summer has been awful!!

    There is always the chillow

I can not even imagine not have A/C in my house. But I've lived in the south all my life and A/C is a must. During out heat waves, they advise people to go to shelters if they don't hhave A/C. But it is rare to not have A/C. I know not everywhere gets as hot though.

I have a two story home and since heat rises, it gets so hot in our bedroom so we have a window unit that we turn on at night during the summer. I'm not sure if that's an option for you or not but I LOVE my window unit for additional coolness.

Sleep with minimal clothing and covers. Maybe a cool shower before bed and a floor fan that points right at the bed.

I know it is miserable when you are too hot to sleep, then it makes for a long day the next day and you find yourself irritable. Not good! :2cents:

60s or 70s, ha ha ha. During the summer the thermostat stays at 80 and that is with AC. any lower and the electric bill would be beyond outrageous.

Same here! I would cry myself to sleep every night if I didn't have AC and a fan going!

I love the "chillow" by the way, and it works!

Not weird at all--that's what I do as well. I can't sleep without covers.

We turn on the A/C at 2:00 PM and off at 6:00 AM the Apartment stays cool rest of the time.
Just thinking, we feel chilly when we are in the 80s when the outside temps are 105° to 115°

    me too!

Seriously, though - we have central a/c, but my bedroom is the hottest in the house - 10 degrees warmer than everywhere else. During the summer I sleep in my dad's room, as it's the coolest room. When he's here & it's hot, I sleep on the couch in the living room. Anything to be comfy!

I don't understand how other parts of the country live without AC. Though where I live would not exist if there was no AC.

We never keep our AC on all night. On really hot nights, I have the window open & keep the fan on me all night.

Growing up I didn't have AC and it would get into the 90's. I always slept with a fan blowing directly on my face and my legs uncovered. On the really hot nights I would get a washcloth wet and put it on my forehead.
:hugs::hugs:Hugs to my AC. I don't think I could stand Texas without it.

We have window units here, but the one in the bedroom has been leaking lately. It was really hot when I turned it off for the night! Growing up, we didn't use the AC because it was too expensive. I hated it! We had an attic fan, but it didn't really seem to help. I would also uncover my legs to help cool down.

We have central air, but with weather as warm & humid as we have here ("feels like" temperature in the upper 80's at midnight) the air just can't cool it to the level where I really sleep best. (I sleep with a window cracked in winter.)

I fold all the blankets to the end of the bed. Sometimes I slip my feet under, but mostly I just sleep on top of the covers. I wear loose-fitting pajamas, typically shorts & tank style. I make sure that my pillows aren't foam, which holds heat.

I have a stand fan that blows across the bed. I have even used blue ice packs to cool down. When the air was out, I put the ice packs IN my bed for awhile before I went to bed. I was able to fall asleep on the cold sheets. Then as I warmed up, I didn't notice it.

I keep my thermostat on 76--which makes is 72 in here since my thermostat isn't regulated properly--and have fans in the kitchen, living room, and bedroom. We recently put a window unit in the den because it's always warmer in there. Our electric bill was $97 last month, which was up $20 from the month before.

On really hot nights I hop in the cold shower for a quick cool down. Try adding another fan at a different angle to form different air flows.

Last night, it was 90 degrees with a heat index of 99 at 10 PM. Even our AC couldn't keep up.

In AZ, we always have A/C! I sleep with no clothes and a fan directed at my body. I have tried the ice pack trick in the bed and it works (mostly for headaches but it does cool you off).
