:help: I desperately need a few more pairs of jeans. However, I have a small waist, but bigger hips and thighs so jeans that fit just right are really hard to find. I used to be able to wear Charlotte Russe jeans (totally random) but they changed them and they don't fit any more. Where do you get your jeans from? Any suggestions on how to find jeans that fit just right?
I really like getting them from Express (they are buy one get one 1/2 off right now!) Also if you get on their mailing list they will send you coupons a few times a year.
I am just the opposite of you. I have narrow hips and thighs, and a larger waist. When I find pants that fit me in the waist, they are baggy in the hips and thighs. It's not as noticeable in slacks, so I wear them more. Finally I found "Right Fit" from Lane Bryant. They have a "no butt" version that's cut narrow through the hips and thighs. I own a pair of everything they offered in the Right Fit. My mom has some from Fashion Bug. They carry sizes 4 to 32 there. They have sizes for no butt people like me, average shapes, and bottom heavy.
Old Navy, because they come in "short." I don't know when 5 foot 6 became short, but that's what fits me. I don't have an hourglass figure, I'm sort of straight down from boobs to hip....and then I flare out some, lol. And to top it off, I'm a larger size (16). But, for some reason, Old Navy's Sweetheart Jeans in a 14 short fit me perfectly. And they go on sale for $20-25 per pair on a pretty regular basis.
GAP bootcut. I've worn them since high school. The size has gone up and down, but still the same jeans.
I won't be able to buy any more jeans from Lane Bryant due to weight loss, but I was very happy with their Right Fit jeans. Back in Levi's, which I absolutely love when they're right...but unfortunately find them hit and miss.
JustMe- I am the exact same way. When I can find a pair of levis the fit, I LOVE them. But it is very hit and miss. I will have to try Old Navy and Express. Thanks for the ideas! Keep em coming
I have a similar shape (small waist, fuller hips), and Old Navy jeans always have a huge gap in the back. I haven't tried Express, though, so you may have better luck there. About two years ago, I purchased THREE pairs of Liz Claiborne jeans that fit perfectly. I'm still wearing them, so I haven't purchased a new pair recently, but you may have luck with Liz (you can get them at Penney's).
The back gap is an easy fix for any tailor. Buy good quality jeans, pay $10-$15 for the quick alteration, and you'll have perfect jeans. Buy them to fit your hips.
After a bazillion years of suffering through bad jeans, i actually found some I *love* at Target, of all places. They're $15-$20 a pair and fantastic. Who knew!
The jeans that fit me the best are from Ann Taylor Loft: the curvy boot. Like you, I have a small waist with bigger hips and thighs. It seems I have to go up 3 or more sizes from what I usually wear in order to find jeans that will fit my hips and thighs, but then they're huge everywhere else. (I'm a size 6-- not exactly large!) I can't wear any pants that aren't a curvy fit, actually.
lilmisses-sounds like we are built the same I average a size 6 also... so it makes it even harder to find pants that fit my curves! I'll check out the loft.
My butt and waist have never been in proportion with each other, if they fit my rear, they are too big and gap in the waist. A few years ago I ordered some from LL bean and they fit great, I'm just now ordering 2 more pairs b/c my other ones are getting to "worn" to wear on Spirit days at school. I hope the new ones fit just as well. Fyi, I tried find some lately without having to order them online but haven't had any luck. I did try Target, but not Express, after the other recommendation I think I'll check them out too.
I have to echo how great Old Navy jeans are. A very long time ago, I HATED Old Navy's jeans. Now, though, they are all that I wear. I have a very curvy waist/hip region (for a skinny person ) so buying jeans that fit me well, and didn't smoosh my booty was hard. I am loving their jeans. They fit my curves and my booty looks great! Definitly try them out. Grab a pair of jeans from every style they have and see if any of them looks great on you.
I agree with the tailoring idea. I buy my clothes and get tailored to fit me exactly, so nothing is too baggy or ill-fitting in general. It's not too expensive either, especially if you bring in a bulk of clothes. You usually get a better deal if you bring in more than one outfit.
I am the opposite of you. I carry all of my weight in my waist and have extremely slim hips/thighs and no butt. I find that I can barely button the jeans at my waist, yet I can pull 6-10 inches (literally) of material off of my legs-that's how baggy they are. I like the American Eagle "slim boot" ones. Totally random, but they're the only ones that aren't incredibly baggy in the hip/butt/thigh area while still being comfortable in the waist. The problem is that being a "younger" store, AE tends to sell most of their jeans with holes, and we have jeans day every Friday at school. I don't want to buy something I can't wear then. I've seriously been looking there for a new pair sans holes for about a year, and they just came out with a dark pair and a light pair in that style with no holes. I snatched both up right away! I'm tempted to buy the next size down (I'm working on losing weight, and I've worn that size before from AE so I know they'll still look good if I can get back to that weight) in case by the time I'm totally ready for them they'll be back to putting out ones with holes!
AZMrs.S, it IS tough to find a good pair of jeans that fit just right. I have the same body type as you & I HAVE to have jeans that stretch. I stretch the thigh area of jeans to see that they stretch a good amt. If they don't, I don't bother trying them on. I like at least 3% of spandex. Here's the brands I wear that are great: DKNY - Macy's & Nordstrom Kut from the Kloth - Nordstrom has them. May see at SteinMart or Ross Jag - Nordstrom has them Not Your Daughter's Jeans - Macy's & Nordstrom Diane Gilman from HSN - They stretch & are nice, but I usually like a lower cut on the waist. Also how about the Bold or Supreme Curve jeans from Levi's? Also, I just found out that Lucky Brand clothing store has a new jean style called Super Stretch Denim. I haven't tried them yet, but they look like they'll be good.
Ms. I, that reminds me. I hate jeans with stretch. Why, oh why, has nearly every maker added stretch to their jeans?

AZMrs.S, you're welcome, have fun! Actually to me, I don't think most currrent brands out there stretch. My BF jokes about how every time we go to the stores/mall, I'm streching the thigh of the jeans on the hanger! By doing that, I can tell if they're going to fit me pretty good or be too rigid/tight feeling.
This is me too!! I'll have to try Express. Have never tried on any of their jeans. I have a few pair from Maurice's that fit ok. There is an Old Navy close to me as well so I think I'll try them too.
My hips are big compared to my waist. I just today bought a pair of Flirt jeans from Old Navy and they do not seem to gap in the back. On sale they were $25 and I think they're $34 regularly. I will say though that I'm 5'7" and they were longish on me. Not so long that it'll bother me, but if I were more than an inch shorter I think they would have been too long. I GAP jeans ~ I have worn them so long I don't have to try them on and since I am short the A (ankle) is perfect for me. I love the feel of the material, soft and comfey from day one, the fit in the waist, and that at GAP I wear a size smaller than anywhere else.
I have never found jeans that fit my body well. I am overweight with most of my weight in my thighs, stomach and hips. Jeans are always baggy in some area of my body. Luckily, I have cut back on jeans (just have one pair) because my weight varied so much a couple of years ago and I didn't have a full-time job. At the time, jeans were either expensive for my budget or were not in my size at the local Goodwill. Then, the issue of the "hard to obtain" perfect jeans wasn't a problem. Now, that I have my job and my weight loss has stabilized, I guess that I am back on the hunt for those "perfect jeans". :lol: I have tried jeans at Walmart but they don't fit very well sometimes. I might try Lane Bryant if I catch some kind of deal that they are having.
My best jeans are from Buckle and I pay through the nose for them, but they fit and I love them. I have 3 pairs and then one pair from Express that fit ok and that I use more for chores and messier projects.
