Which category best describes you in most situations? Are you one of these, or somewhere in between?

    1. My attitude is: doom and gloom. I can immediately come up with a reason why something will go wrong. Life is out to get me.

    2. My attitude is: to tread lightly. I don't think life is out to get me, but I'm not surprised when it does.

    3. My attitude is: life is good. If things do go wrong, it doesn't take me long to see the bright side.

    4. My attitude is: Everything is rosey. All the time. I hear birds chirping and have butterflies light on my shoulder on a daily basis.

    I think I'm #3.

I'd say I'm #3, dh is #1...his thinking is if you think this way, you can't be disappointed. :haha:

I think these categories vastly oversimplify the attitudes people have towards life. :dunno: I'd say I'm somewhere between #2 and #3, except with a lot more shades of gray. #1 sounds like Major Depression and #4 sounds like mania -- neither of which are realistic for the vast majority of the population.

STG - Same with me and my hubby! He is always seeing the downside to things, and I always tend to be optimistic....But I think we balance each other out pretty well;)

Yep, you're right. In no way was this thread meant to be a concrete in-depth analysis of personality and attitude. It's more along the lines of "are you a glass half empty or glass half full type person" which has produced interesting convo in the past.

    I think I am too.

My husband is probably a 4--that's because he does what he wants to when he wants to.

Usually I am between a 2 and a 3, much closer to the 3 though.
    Today- about a negative 14 (or a 1 since it is closest ;) )

#3- I'm passionate about what I do, my family, my home, my life goals...I look positively at things with a realistic slant...I believe in putting out positive energy and work on that...(not always easy!). I'm not a Pollyanna though...:p;)

#3 :D My mom always taught me, "If there's a will, there's a way." I live by that. I always look at obstacles as something to jump over and I'll grow that much more if I make it. Just like I wanted out of Kansas and it was a tough road to try and find a job here in SD and an apartment, etc...but my boyfriend and I made it by working hard and keeping at it.

I think I'm between a 2 and 3...I am always aware things can go wrong, and I'm usually not surprised if they do...but I try to make the best of it when they do.

My boyfriend would say I'm #2 entirely...but that's usually because he listens to all the worrying, haha.

I'm a 3 most of the time, but there are a few situations that push me into the 2 range.

I'm between 2 and 3. I think it really depends on the situation and the people.

With my interaction with my last principal I was a 2 (except karma got her back for me -- she was transferred to another school at the end of the school year:D).

I'm a 2.7 - most of the time I look at every day as a gift... but it seems there are more days lately where I feel I can't get ahead no matter what I do.

I think I'm #2 with some #1 tendencies. I often find myself complaining about anything/everything when talking with people - I need to stop that!

I was always a 3 until I met my df, and he is a 1. That has changed me to a 2.5, I guess. Lately though his negativity is really getting on my nerves.

3 -almost to a fault. People don't like to complain to me about other people because I can always see where the other side is coming from. The cashier was really rude to me .. well would you like to stand on your feet all day and ring up produce? But I'm not a 4 - I tend to be a little cynical, definitely not jaded.

I am usually a 3, unless several events conspire against me at one time. :) My DH is definitely a 1!
