For those of you at Preschools, was wondering what you do to advertise or get the word out about your school.

We haven't done any TV, radio, or newspaper ads, we mostly get students from one of the following:

o parents see our sign and building
o brochures from a nearby pediatric clinic
    o website (Google searches)
    o word of mouth

Was wondering what you do to drum up business.

When I was president of the Parents Board of my kids' nursery school, enrollment had started to drop. We took a number of actions to change things. Something must have worked, since they're still open several years later. Among the things we did:

    - Put up a sign--hard to believe that hadn't already been done.
    - took out an ad in the phone book
    - started a website
    - printed up a bazillion business card magnets and gave them away like candy
    - spoke to real estate agents and gave them some brochures (and maybe some of the fridge magnets, I forget.) We figured that new familes would make a good target audience
    - sponsored an area a the local village fair. We did a bouncy aimed at the Pre-K set. We also went to an Oriental Trading type of place and got a bajillion small boxes of crayons. We put stickers on each box with the name of the nursery school, and ran off a lot of coloring pages. That way the kids on line could color, and it freed up the parents to speak to us.
    - We sold school T shirts. It helped get our name out there.

    • Advertise in your area parent magazine/paper
    • Advertise on any local area website
    • Participate in EVERY family fair/event in town
    • Use VISTA Print: make car magnets, advertising materials
    • Ask local merchants to carry your advertisement items
    • Use your local schools to advertise
    • Create an incentive for current parents to bring in new families
    • Open house event a couple times per year
